thermostatical

got my mocal 180 f thermostat for the madness cooler yesterday; it's going on tomorro even if it rains. called madness the other day to see which port on their adapter was "from " the engine to the cooler. they didn't know. asked what the ideal temp (oil) was for the mini . didn't know. just said no need for a thermostat. i guess some people in vancouver bought one so that means all is well no need for a thermostat. well let me just say this. from driving without a thermostat;i can tell you the ideal temp is about 180 f the car feels like it's hitting a wall until 180f is reached. 160 isn't too bad but wouldn't run above 2800 rpms at this temp as it just feels too constricted. (not free reving). the oil pressure at 150 -160f is as it is at 180f so it's lubing okay but 180f is the one . so as i was advised here less than a year ago ; do get a thermostat if running a cooler in temperate climates.
