I've been very happy with the PLX that I got from M7...In retrospect, I should've spend a little more and got the logger version...

How much did you pay for the welding of the bung?

I've heard good things about the LC1 w/X16 gauge as well, but there are so many options out there that I haven't formed a solid opinion yet.

Welding the bung is no big deal...I had one put on both my Miltek and Megan header in a good location that's not interfering with anything...my guy did it for $25 each...

i ran a plx-250 into the original narrow-band bung... and then used the plx to give the ecu its NB requirements

I just made sure to use the same ground the ecu used, so that the information was more relavent! I'm now about to take apart all my handy work to put it in my s2k

I've thought about that...can you elaborate on "how to" do that?

I was looking at one of these -

AEM Gauge-Type Wideband UEGO Controller

I hadn't thought about it at all but thought that you just replaced the stock 02 sensor with the new one and that the wiring allowed you to plug the cars into it. Like I said didn't give it anythought.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what's the big advantage about having a wideband O2 sensor? Why wouldn't a cheap $50 dollar electrical lean/rich gauge do the job? I have been looking into gauges recently, and I have noticed that cheap lean/rich gauges cost $40, and a cheap wideband A/F with digital gauge costs $400+...?

when you custom tune the ecu (I have a Unichip) you need more resolution in your data than pass/fail. the wideband gives you that.....

I use the AEM & it works well....You can log with it too, but it just has a pin out for serial, so you would need to capture the data via mr lappy or pda. The downside is it only reads down to 10 on the rich scale. I found it to be the most resonable priced guage, and it looks like a gauge to.

Anything wrong with the AutoMeter 4378 or the Bosch sensor it comes with?

Includes high-quality Bosch wideband O2 sensor
Display data in Lambda or numerical A/F ratio
User programmable range...

^^It appears to be a great gauge, but it probably costs upward of $300.

How does the color match? I have the Cooper S dual gauges Boost/Volt. Do you think I can get the color to match the OEM look. I had to mess around with my new pod gauges to get them brighter.

Thats the line we carry at work (as well as AEM). They are not the cheapest but work very, very well. There are options for gauge packages as well as dataloging. There display can be either gauge style or a led style.

I worked out what the 4 wires did, cut the sensor line, soldered in the new wire from the PLX that goes to the ecu. I then built a resistor series to fool the heater element of the plug to think that it was heated...

What i did at first because i was lazy was tape the the original 02 sensor to the body of the car.... so it kept the heating part working while intercepting the sensor wire with the plx... Its just not as 'clean'

I found where the ecu grounds to the body, and ground it to that. Built a relay to turn on when original plug did and i was set! To be honset the hardest part is removing the original o2 from its bung. They tend to weld themselves to the exhaust...

Could you describe the resistor setup (values) etc. I have an AEM UEGO and would like to try using its narrowband output wire to run the ECU.
