Drivetrain FMIC for MCS?
FMIC for MCS?
I pulled this from another board. the guy took the pic from this morning's crystal cove meet in Newport Beach, CA. it looks like a FMIC. does anybody know who's car this is? any more pics?
I believe that's the fmic sold by Randy Webb at www.webbmotorsports.com.
Pricey, but apparently quite good.

Since day one they have never been able to stay in one piece do to engine movment. They also actually lose boost due to the increased volume. In summer there is a bit of a overheating problem as there is with the Gintani water to air which also blocks up the lower third of the radiator. Due to the CF horns it is EXTREMLEY noisy. Other than that its great .
the noise is awesome, there are a couple vids around. i dont think that webb is still selling these as he is using the gintani now. the boost drop is due to the long run the air has to make down through the big intercooler then back up i think
My little dose of LITHIUM

Why not read this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t=80435&page=2 instead of going over all this again? The search function works on NAM quite well.
oy vey,
oy vey,
if you do asearch on either youtube or google there's a vid of Randy's FMIC... it's cool! -- Johan

I was on a run this past summer where the owner of a car equipped with a Gintani system was over heard by several members complaining that he had to drive with the heater on to keep the car from running too hot . The inlet temps may be better with that system but the engine itself is certaiinly running hotter than what is desireable.

The problem with the FMIC was that the engine rock would pull the CF out of the intercooler boots. The CF cracking problem was fixed. Randy doesn't produce it anymore because he lost the CF source. It would work if a flexable boot was used at the CF to intercooler point.

My facts are straight or the owner was making it up. It was one of the topics of conversation around the lunch table by several club members at lunch later that day.

The intake temps may be lower but apparently at the expense of the motor running hotter overall.

What do you mean "he stopped producing it?" Thats a Dastek FMIC...he simply sourced and re-sold it, no? Anyone looking for more info google Dastek as they are the originators of this kit and discuss any tech info with them. I spoke with someone there early last spring but can't remember his name.
this is what i found...

FRONT-MOUNT INTERCOOLER
Perhaps the most impressive part of the kit, this intercooler has been custom designed using an authentic Dastek POWERCOOLER core to provide the maximum power by lowering charge temperatures.
Additionally, the bespoke carbon-fibre intercooler manifold - manufactured exclusively for Dastek by South African Airlines - protects against heat-soak from the engine bay.
Superficially, it not only looks incredible, but also creates a unique turbine-like roar as the car piles on the revs.

To answer your questions the car is mine.. I have fought with this system for the past two years(or more)... We have been through three versions of the carbon fiber adapter and have solved that problem... We have stiffened the motor mounts and replaced all the boots except one.. The result is that it ran a complete day at Buttonwillow the beginning of this month and I will be back there again on 10/30 for the Wicks event... At this point it WORKS!!! and the sound is impressive(Boost gauge says 18-20 pounds at 6-7,000 RPM despite the ambient temperature).....Further questions or??? here I am......
