gatorback vs. napa

okay; my napa belt with say 1ooo mls. on it is slipping already. are these just crap or what? alignment is good webb motorsports pulley 15%. belt looks good but is at the second hole already. strong smell of cooked rubber after a good launch and boost ;from stop or roll-on. should i just get a gatorback or what?

I have the Webb 15% as well with a JCW and I am having the same problem. Maybe its the pulley? I want a GatorBack but I hear they are pretty noisy and I like a quiet ride.

Yep, autozone.

Discount Advanced Autoparts has the part number online, but they do not sell it in the store.

hey herbie, i hate to say this, but if your belt is slipping after 1000mls, there is definately something wrong. Your pulley must be misaligned. The cost of replacing a belt every 1000mls is a lot more than solving the problem now. My napa belt is still fine on my 17% pulley, and its been over 5000mls, hard driving too....

Good luck buddy

yeah i'll check it but i'm still gonna go with a gator back. there's no way that much stretch should have ocurred so fast . alignments one thing but that's a ton of stretch. maybe a bad belt . so quality here i come.

I used the gatorback part #4060537 with a madness 15% pulley. I frickin love it! Nice fit, easy to put on, and when you rev the throttle it now reminds me of the scene from Mad Max. Got about 1000miles on it and it still looks brand new.

ok. goodyear gator back # 4060547 = 54.7 " effective length. if my napa is # 060539 and the #'s = 53.9 " then i want to go smaller so the goodyear 4060537 may fit the 15% . still that's a butload of stretch so i'll let ya know what i find maybe we'll have the same problem . time to break out the straight edge.

Try the Goodyear 4060537 it should fit the 15%. That's why I posted the link from 2004 so you could skip over reinventing the wheel. I use it on a 17%; others use it on 15%-19%, works great.

$60 to $80 for a welded piece of iron does seem a bit much. I was going to make my own till I find one on ebay for $15. Felt kind of bad for the guy since he didn't have the part in the right place and I sure would have gotten more if he had better MINI exposure.
