CAI, pulley, exhaust. 3 Big ones. Adds good reliable power and a nice sound from the supercharger and exhaust note.

Agreed... The one that will give you the most bang for the buck is the Pulley

X3. The pulley is one of the best mods you can do (imo) besides an M62 or Twincharge.

You can do the CAI yourself. For The budget enthusiast - do the 1-ball exhaust (about 150). Pay to have your pulley done - all in about 300 bucks.
Add a ecu software upgrade (about 300 bucks) and stop there.

You will have a totally different car and a great daily driver.

Check out our FAQ page - I think the second question down covers it.

Of course it will depend on what you are using the car for and if you are considering auto-x or racing classes. You will also base decisions on your end goal as well.

Let me know if you have any more questions!

Hope that helps,
Randy

Thank you Randy,
The your link was very helpful... I've "heard" lots about you, looks like your the man here... I'm even thinking about buying the CAI from you, of course the question is, which one is the best?
It's a shame you are in Colorado (I'm in houston, TX.), I would like that you were the one who install the pulley.
Anyways you will hear from me next month, cause my girl decided to get a Chihuahua, and I'm spending my whole check on the damn dog =(
Well thank you again guys for all your tips and recommendations.

And a rear sway bar is a fantastic mod along with the above!

I have never liked the idea of the 1-ball exhaust for power gain. It saves weight and adds some sound; thats it.

Yes Good Idea, it's cheap and probably the best suspension bang for your buck mod.

Mr. Webb is a good man and he won't steer you wrong! Good luck and by all means have FUN -- Johan

Remove one of the mufflers of the exhaust. Check out the search.

Best bang for the buck is the pully bar none. After that it is more money for less HP.

The MCS should come out of the factory with a 15% smaller pulley and a bigger rear swaybar. So i'd do them first. Next i'd do a remap and intake

Catback will only give sound, and minimal power. I'd do the one ball + OBX headers + stock cat, for a stock sounding car with a bit of a nicer and non-obnoxious tone, with a little more power. dirt cheap too.

I dont really like very loud exhausts... taking one of the ***** out (of the exhaust) makes it louder?

I've never heard a one ball personally, but reading through the threads you get the idea that it is a bit louder than stock, but not by much. Definitely not close to "very loud". Most people that do the one ball become big fans of it, I don't think I've read one negative review from anyone doing it.

I don't have a one-ball, but heard a couple of them at the 2006 AMVIV. IMO, it is barely noticeably different from the OEM, sound-wise.

noise is a fraction louder, and a tad deeper. Very hard to tell the difference
