Messing with the Clutch

I've got the clutch/throw-out squeal, and the dealer will be taking a look at it. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for perfomance mods that can be done as long as he is digging around in there.

I don't understand. I searched the other threads on the noise issue, but didn't see much of anything on potential upgrades/mods to be done while the dealer is searching for the problem. Sorry if there is something I missed.

I've got the wonderful throw out bearing noise sometimes too...

Unless the clutch goes out, I highly doubt they will do anything. I was told by one tech that it just happens to nearly all manual transmission cars in humid climates.

I didn't have a squeal, but I did have a rattle. I took it in and they replaced the flywheel under warranty. While I was at it, I had them do the entire clutch pack, too (clutch material, throw-out bearing, pressure plate?) for about $300 in parts.

Depending on what they deem to be wrong, you could do an aftermarket clutch and/or flywheel. The labor should be free, since they'll already have the car apart. That's all dependent on your SA, however.

if you have a noise our dealer replaces both the flywheel and the clutch/pressure plate for good measure. It cost less to replace more parts than tear the tranny apart twice.
