Alta CAI vs. M7 AGS sound?

I just saw the video featuring the Cosworth M7 Mini yesterday and I love how it sounds. But when I called M7 today, they said the AGS is discontinued. I do want an intake that really magnifies the sound of the supercharger whine. Has anywhere here heard both the Alta intake and the M7 AGS? If so, how does the sound compare?

Thanks for your input!

The term discontinued is not completely accurate at this time . We are making a
change in the manufacturing process of the system and have temporarily stopped
production. We will be sure to make an announcment when the production line
starts up again. As to the original question of a sound comparison , there is
none There are a variety of sound clips in this older NAM thread, Enjoy.

Thank you Randy for the response. Do you have any idea when the AGS V. 3 will be put back in production? I'm really itching to magnify the supercharger whine... If it'll be available in a month or two, I can wait. But if it's going to take longer, I might end up trying the Alta.

The Alta's sound is closer to the driver. The AGS (providing you have bored out the intake trim) projects the intake sound very loudly at WOT forward...Less noise for the driver, more entertainment for the crowd

Hmmm, I actually want more noise inside the cabin. As far as sound signature, is there a noticeable difference? I want my S to sound like a screaming banshee!

duck tape my cat to the hood... i'm sure that'll do the trick

****Disclaimer: I love my cat and would never let anyone duck tape her to the hood of any car... they'd have to use scotch tape as it's easier on the fur

Then you would want the Alta Or you could place a mike up to the AGS and hook it up to your aux input

Good idea. Or maybe I'll just burn a CD of F1 races and try to match my throttle to the race.

From a pedestrian's point of view, the m7 AGS is indeed louder than the ALTA. I've heard that the AGS is not quite as loud as the ALTA from the driver's point of view many times, like many previous posters have also stated.

Good luck.

Thx for the feedback. Sounds like the Alta's a better choice for me. Do you know if the sound characteristic is different? The Cosworth car on M7's website sounds incredibly aggressive. It can't be just the intake that's making all that noise right?

The blue Cosworth car on the site is mine. I had the Alta before the AGS so I can give you a first hand impression of the difference.
The sound you hear is all in the intake, you have to remember that the throttle body is only about 12 inches from the supercharger inlet with the AGS. That leaves very little to muffle the sound.

Also most of the time in that video the engine was turning 6-7000+ RPMs. That makes the supercharger sound pretty loud.

Just thought I would give you my .02 worth. Click on the link below my sig if you want to see what else contributes to the "Aggressive" nature of this car.

Whoa Bill, that's a huge list! Love what you did to your car and wish I can afford to do half of the stuff you did. VERY tastefully done.

Thanks for the compliment.
I have to thank M7 for most of it , I'm afraid I can't take much of the credit. But it sure is fun to drive.

I have a video/soundclip of a MCS with a Alta intake and 17% s/c pulley. See it here.
