Borla Header / MC Magazine Misprint?
In MC Magazine Issue #4, Page 78 "High Noon - Mini Cooper Style"
the spec sheet for the owners car lists his car having a 'stainless header and free flow cat from Borla...'
I wasn't aware borla made a header/cat for our car.. Does anyone have any info about a borla header? or this car in specific? Im in the market for a header, and Im happy with my Borla exhaust, and would consider getting a paired header for it

yes... this was a misprint... there where lots of misprints... it wasn't MC2s fault. I am directly involved in the project after the magazine afticle was produced. It is not a borla header. It is not a pulley by sneaky... it is not a head by spotleson... the head and pulley are be me. This will all be corrected in a future issue! Stay tuned... things are going to get very very interesting!

thank you

Wow! Now I REALLY can't wait to get the ("back") #4 issue I ordered when I ordered my 2-year subscription!! I have noticed what I would consider to be "too many" typos, spelling and usage errors in past issues (not such a BFD), but I had not heard about any outright misinformation in the features until now. How is it that you hold the magazine entirely blameless?
Is this a commonplace occurrence in MC2?

Being that I came through Journalism school not too long ago.... Imo it's a common occurance in any magazine. Deadlines are rough as rusty nails and error checking is usually the first thing that goes out the window as time wears thin.
you just have to take it with a grain of salt these days and do a bit of research when you see something that is fishy. It does indeed detract from the publication in peoples minds, this I'm sure of, but overall it is still a quality publication.

this thread was for information clarification, not to hold MC2 or any other magazine on trial for mistakes.
Small magazine + tight dealines = shnits gonna get missed from time to time. Even with the bigger mags, these things happen. Its not like the internet, where you can edit your post or message on line, and pretend the error didnt happen. Print is print.

Maybe its too early in the morning and i haven't developed my thick skin for the day... but that post came across as unnessicarily abrassive.
The misinformation came from the owner of the car (not me)which he then supplied the information to the MC2. I have supplied parts and turned the wrenchs on the car. The owner has not. He is a very busy gentleman and just mistakenly gave MC2 the incorrect information on some of the modifications. Therefore, MC2 is not to blame and really the owner of the car just made a couple of mistakes in which we all do. Please stay tuned to a future issue in which everything will be addresed and corrected. This is going to be an awesome shoot out!
Mariokart: as far as all of the modifications on the car... you can stay tuned to MC2 magazine to see all of the updates. Currently the car has an AZ Power and sound 15% pulley, AZ power and Sound cylinder head, jcw intake, mini madness header, and borla exhaust, and evotech software. However, there are going to be some VERY intersting changes and powerful upgrades being made to the car which will really transform the car!
Again, stay tuned to MC2!
isellem, I think your skin was a wee bit thin...
...but I understand. Perhaps my post was not clear enough. Please let me explain.
Just prior to reading this thread, I had plunked down money for the fourth back issue and a subscription, hence my concern ("Did I just throw away some good money?" I was wondering at the time) even though I had thoroughly enjoyed the first 3 back issues.
If you read my post #5 again, you'll note that I was surprised at the idea of misinformation appearing in MC2. Even though some of the items I have found would have been caught by MS Word spell or grammar checker programs they have been inconsequential, and so, no big deal. I think you would agree, however, that MISINFORMATION IS a big deal. Especially in a technical publication. That is why I was concerned at the time.
Please note that I posed a QUESTION at the end of my post. I did NOT indict, or accuse, or even criticize. Rather, my intent was to seriously ask (of other subscribers) whether the magazine was doing (or NOT doing) anything to earn a reputation for substantive errors and to ask (without ire or intent to be critical) "How could one judge the magazine blameless?"
As it turns out, I probably should have witheld question and comment, and waited for the issue 4 to arrive. It, together with your first post, answered my concerns. I received my copy of #4 since my first post to this thread, and had an opportunity to see the article in question. I believe I see why this problem occurred, how the magazine is pretty much blameless for this bloop; and why you were in a unique position to know at the time that that was the case.
No hard feelings, I hope.
In addition, let me say I am just as glad as ever that I spent my $'s to subscribe, AND I look forward eagerly to issue 5.

Maybe a subscription would help to sustain the publication so that improvements can be made to support it and the endearing MINIs we enjoy.
That's usually why I subscribe to magazines.
Shucks, I would have liked a nice Borla Header for the MINI with race cat.
So I did a search for Borla Headers for the MINI.
