How much should I pay to install a turbo?

I just got my mini last week and I have already done a ton of stuff.
Intake
17% pulley
grills
Unichip
One ball
Tint window and tail lights
Wheels and springs are on Wednesday.

I might oder the Alta turbo kit next week. If I get it from back east how much should pay just in labor for the install in California? How many hours should it take?

Just my 2 cents worth ...
Once you get to this point I would do it my self as at this level you will have "things to do" and not just get in and drive.
OR ... If you pay someone to do it be sure that is a good relationship and probably close to you.
From what I undertand not really that difficult ... you say you did the mods listed , sounds like you would be able.

If you get any twincharge kit, you just wasted your money on the intake, pulley, and one-ball, as they'd all have to go. The UNIchip would probably have to go too, unless you got it custom tuned for the twincharge setup. All said and done, expect to blow a few grand beyond the cost of the kit to get it installed, debugged, and tuned, as well as a proper turbo exhaust fabricated.

My advice, if this is something you're on the fence about, defintely consider that it's not a setup for the faint of heart or the mechanically disadvantaged.

$0.02,
Ryan

Well you are gonna lose the pulley and intake with the twurbo first off....But to answer your post, you need to find a shop in SoCal that is good with MINI's. I know for the Helix kit it is about 40 hours of labor/fabrication work. You may find a shop willing to make a "package" price though as it will be a chunk of coin to do. If you can have it done in AZ I know a couple of places in Phoenix to try. PM me if you want contact info.

I will be in Scottsdale on the weekend of 16th of October. But I really can't leave my car 450miles away from home. From looking at old posts, I hope Alta has improved there kit so there isn't so many missing pieces.
Send me a Pm with your info, maybe we can meet up.

I wouldn't mind doing the install myself. I did the supercharger on my E55 W210 last year. From what I have read the Alta kit is missing parts and has very poor instructions.

With all of the new stuff that tuners are currently working on and hope to release in the next couple of months (i.e. M62 supercharger from m7, Giantani, etc) I'd hold tight for now. In the meantime you should add a rear sway bar and proper exhaust to compliment your future mods.

Installation of the kit hardware should take 1 -2 days depending on the experience of the person installing it. I have a installation guide that I started writing a couple weeks ago that has many pictures. It is about 1/2 way done. As soon as I get some spare time I will finish it up. Let me know if you have any specific questions about the kit.

Thanks, Cliff

I wouldn't go with the Alta Twurbo, still too many missing links. I'd go with the Fireballed! Kit. Give Fireballed! a call and tell them how much power you want to make and they'll set you up a kit accordingly. The install shouldn't be tough, if you did that supercharger install, you'll be fine. But expect to pay some money for proper tuning. Oh and the Intake, Pulley, One-Ball, and most likely the Unichip will go as posted above. So be prepared to sell those things.

P.S.: You could even have Fireballed! Flash your car and tune it on the dyno with both their Reflash and the Apex'i S-AFC as their in California as well, dunno how close to you though.. Road Trip? lol, Good Luck.

P.P.S: What Foglights are you running. Those things match the HIDs perfectly. Please let me know which and where you bought them. Thanks.

They are Nokya (sp)blue lights 100 watt $39 at a stero shop. I just got the Fireballed flash today and WOW!! I love it. It was my favorite mod and I love the 7500 new limiter.
