Question re: M7 AGS intake

I'm sure many of you have seen the vid on M7's website featuring the howling AGS equipped MINI, my question is how realistic is it to expect that sound from a MCS which has only the AGS and a catback exhaust installed. My point is that the car in the vid is the same car which has been equipped with the Cosworth Stage 2 kit, and to expect a car with only two relatively cheap mods to sound like a car with just about everything possible modded is just wishful thinking.

To boil it down: if the AGS will make Simon sound like that (or close) I'll order it tomorrow, but if not, I'll pass on the pricey intake and get an Alta.

Anyone here have the M7? How does it sound with minimal mods? Would the "Pro" system help with the 62mm throttle body?

How close could I come to that sublime sound with AGS, 62mm TB, and 15% pulley / 2% crank? Close? That's not bad for around $1000.

Feedback please.........

I will have SRTech post. He has the AGS. He had it on before the Cosworth.

Well, I had the Milltek catback, AGS and a 15% pulley and it screamed. I don't know how much the pulley added, but I think it would still make a lot of the sound without it. I really got some great comments at Lime Rock with all the mods, so if you continue to mod, you can look forward to sounding even better.

The sound is all AGS

If you are talking about the video with the blue Cosworh car and the dark grey ( mine ) then you will have a pretty good idea as to how yours may sound if you key into my car. I have a stock head and supercharger with a 16 % and 2 % pulley. You should sound pretty much like me with the exception fo the exhaust. Coming at someone you will sound about 95% like mine. Hope this helps.

By just changing to a 15% pulley you will already hear a louder SC whine. The AGS will "amplify" that sound and adding the 2% is a good idea that will help both the sound and performance. You will be pretty close(in sound)to the cars in the M7 vid. Do some more research on the throttle body mod, it might not be something you need right now.

i have been told my car sounds like a screaming banshee escaping from hell... and thats with a 19 and HAI... you can still get a nice supercharger scream without pulling out the big dough for an intake

Great feedback, people! Exactly what I was looking for and has answered my question definitively. I'm placing an order with my fave mod shop (Jonathan, you listenin'?) tomorrow for the AGS and the 2/16 crank/pulley set-up. Lookout, Vancouver.....Simon's going to learn to sing!!

BTW, Randy....your car sounds sweet! The Ultimate Grill looks great in black too. Much better than the Aero-kit option. I'd better tack that onto my order to save labour when the bumper skin is off.

Aren't there reliability issues with a 19% pulley? I know there are anecdotes that say both yes and no, but the controversy kinda scares me away.

no, the only thing about 19% pulley is that you shouldnt run it for long periods of time cuz it will spinn its brains out.. so if you drive around in the streets its great... just dont go on any tracks and race it....

HOWEVER... im not sure how a HAI would effect it... i havnt herd anything bad yet...
