Helix short shift installation problem encountered

Hey !
I am having trouble gettin the two 15mm Nut of the flange between the header and the exhaust. The nut seems to be really tight and I was wondering if anyone can guide me through this process. Keep in mind, Im pretty new at these mechanical stuff... and tools are very limited.
Anyone that installed the short shift by themselves before PLEASE HELP!!!

They are usualy a huge PITA to get off... Do you have a breaker bar? The way i do it is to put a 15mm wrench on one side braced against the bottom of the car, them i take the breaker bar on the other side and pull as hard as i can. It pops the nut right off.

Be very carefun when you do the SS mod. if you break the fragile plastic clips in the shifter, you will need to buy a whole new unit (more than $100...)

It's a really really good idea to soak these in penetrating oil before working on them. I don't mean WD40, use real pentrating oil.
If you have a stock exhaust and you snap off the bolt by cranking on it you're just a bit screwed.

Lowes sells some Du Pont penitrating oil, I'm sure Home Depot will also. If you can find any, Kroil is the stuff to get.

Thanks for the reply so far guys, I asked a friend to borrow me a breaker bar. Hopefully I'll be able to get it off this time!

I soaked mine with PB Blaster, and used a 1/2" drive ratchet to get them off.
Obe's right, if you break that bolt, you won't be going anywhere for while.

Humm. I just did this install with my Milltek exhaust this weekend.

Two notes:

1- After soaking in PB Blaster for a few minutes, using a breaker bar, the bolts came right out. I've had much more trouble with other bolts. but mine are only a year old.

2- A good tool for removing the plastic tray that covers the shifter is a bent arbor. Or a pick with a curved shaft. Using this, the cover came off in under a minute! And in one piece. Although I HIGHLY doubt I'll ever reinstall it!

The new shifter feels as it should have from the factory. No more rowing boats for me!
