Exhaust with Lowest Tone?

Quick question: which aftermarket exhaust has the lowest tone? I'm looking for something lower and slightly louder than stock. The M7 exhaust was looking like the leading contender (with extra resinator), but isn't being produced any more. Any other suggestions?
And yes, I've looked at the exhaust reference thread, but it's very difficult to tell how all the exhausts sound relative to each other when shot in different conditions on different cars.

Thanks!

Miltek cat-back?

From the research I have done, it seems that the cadidate for your award is the Miltek cat-back exhaust. Add the Miltek header, and things get noticably louder, though.

M7 was definitely the deepest I've heard. From the exhausts I've heard, I'd say Borla is the deepest. Milltek is deep, but quiet...so maybe thats what you want.

Thanks, sounds like the Milltek is the way to go. How does it compare to the Magnaflow in terms of loudness? That's my only benchmark, and is a little loud for my tastes!

Magnaflow is definitely louder than Milltek.

For most people Milltek is easy to live with.

Forget the Milltek header you won't need it for starters.

For those on a bigger budget check out UUC.
For those that like it a little less loud check out Borla Street.
For those that like it a little louder with a growl check out Borla Race.
For those that like a single sided MCS exhaust with a growl check out Quicksilver (just don't add a header).

All of these are nice exhausts.

The ALTA Sportone has a very nice deep tone. I have been checking out exhausts for over a year and finally went with the ALTA because I personally prefer the tone over the others. Just my 2 cents. The Miltek is a very popular choice as well but not quite as loud as the ALTA IMHO. Good luck.

Yes the M7 is deep sounding, but also loud. Compared with a Milltek, the Milltek is nearly silent until you give it some gas. The M7 is deep all around, but even deeper sounding as you juice it. The M7 at idle gives you rumbling, the Milltek sounds nearly stock at times. In the mid-range, cabin sound with the M7 sounds like your in an airplane sitting next to the wing.

Deepest tone, would be Blueflame, esp. at idle when it sounds much like a V8, WOT at 6k ROM and it sounds like a Classic Racing Mini

M7 exhaust is not being produced anymore? That was a short run.

The exhaust is still being produced but M7 is no longer selling it. The exhaust is produced by a third party and is still available through them although I have no idea of the cost. I would guess it's similar to what M7 was charging.

For some more info on the M7 exhaust try this thread. I posted some links to some video clips on the second page (posts #26 & #42)

Also, I thought I read somewhere that the UUC exhaust was no longer available.

Nice thing about the Milltek is that it doesn't drone at highway speeds. It's nice and growly in the lower ranges, and definitely sounds great when you step on it at any speed, but it won't drive you nuts on long highway trips!

I'm definitely leaning towards the Miltek. However, the Larini sounds good also. Does anyone have any personal experience of it? Sounds good in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHgw8QSWDxw

If you like the Larini, take a look at the Invidia. It's a little quieter, a little deeper and no drone for a DD.

You might take a look at the thread below.. it's got a bunch of clips in it for your listening and viewing pleasure.. I just picked up a Saclam exhaust. It's definately on the high end of the price scale but it sounds fantastic. Like the Miltek it doesn't have much sound unless you put your foot in it..

Before I got my lead on Saclam stuff Miltek was at the top of my list. The last thing you want is drone on the highway.. it's very wearing and takes a toll on your ears.

My clips are on page 10.. Enjoy!

dB

85db = In cabin, door closed, idle, inside two-car garage, radio/fan off
90db = In cabin, driver door open, idle, inside two-car garage, radio/fan off
105-109db = Sound meter right next to the tailpipe (not pointed into tips), idle, garage

I am getting a Larini exhaust installed tomorrow. I heard it first ear/hand it sounded really nice but I have no barometer to gauge it by.

Maybe Piloracing has a UUC exhaust-

I don't see it at Webbmotorsports or at Outmotoring.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice; I ended up going with the Milltek. Got it installed yesterday at Steve's Auto Clinic, along with the Alta intake I've wanted for a while now. Exhaust has a nice deep tone, but no drone. Only down side is the alta drowns it out slightly at higher speeds. Might need to invest in the alta box top I guess.
Am I right in thinking that the volume of the exhaust will increase as I break it in over the next few hundred miles?

come on guys.... clearly the deepest tone is simple... run catless, and straight through! even just run a straight pipe.... oh my god! the interior shakes like mad, but the noise at 6-7k rpm................ just cant be beat

I like this exhaust, almost got 1, good sound & quality build, you don't see them too often, but went with an Invidia for the same reasons.
