Options for next mod..

Currently have a 2002 MCS, Alta CAI, 15% Pulley, Borla Race exhaust, IK22's and kingsbourne wires. (suspension, etc done)

Im looking at 4 different options to 'complete' my power mods. (once this is done, im going to concentrate on wifes 2.0T 5 door MKV GTI)

1) Simply add GIAC tuning to my current setup, and call it done.

2) Add GIAC tuning to current setup and ADD a header (OBX/Miltek/Alta/MTH?!)

3) upgrade to 19% pulley, JCW Injectors and GIAC Tuning

4.) MTH Tuner file + possibly add 2% crank pulley and possibly add header

Car will never see a track day (likely a couple 1/4 mile runs)
Daily driver, year round.
VERY spirited driving on daily basis.

Using your options I'd say go for #3... And if you can, add in the m7 DFIC and a Header...

*Edit* - P.S: How do you like the Borla Race?

given my driving, heat soak isnt *that* big of a deal, so i dont know if i would really make good use out of a larger intercooler or DFIC.

what is an OCC?

As for the borla race: took me a bit to get used to it, or for it to break in, but i love it now. It was a bit loud at first. Very droany at highway speeds. After a month or so, I added the Borla venturis and that removed the droan, and really mellowed out the tone. I couldnt be happier with it. Instant kick in the pants power. Not like the pulley, but certainly noticeable. And the 'sound' of speed certainly adds to the mental dyno

Ive added a forth option. MTH is still a possibility.

i'd vote for #3...from all i've heard and seen when eric came down here, that's a significant upgrade in power from your current setup. one that you'll be glad you did.

as for the dfic...i drive like you, no tracking, but that dfic provides a very nice boost even at around-the-neighborhoods speed. hard to imagine, but yes even at low speeds, it surprised me.

but for most power for your $$$...#3.

OCC is an Oil Catch Can... If you can do without the DFIC then I suggest maybe getting the Header for some more power... Although your exhaust might get a little noisier if you don't run a cat..

duh.. been so long since i thought of them never clued in.

Im sticking to essentially the top four options.

Intercoolers a good way to 'keep power'. Right now, im more concerned in 'adding' power.

Ive owned the car for 1 year this thursday. Im pretty happy. Im trying to 'spread things out'

IE: one of the first 4 options this year
next year add a DFIC or larger TMIC to help keep the power longer from If i havnt got a header yet, id add one next year as well

an intercooler insnt someting just to keep the power. i think of it more as a power adder. lowering your intake temps and such. i dont know much of the lingo. but cooler air being more dense prevents detenation and timing retard. more power. ask anyone

I would deffinitly get an OCC, header, and a remap. Other than that, DFIC would be next on my list.

OBX and MTH/GIAC

Then DFIC and M7 OCC at the same time when you feel like shelling out

OBX is tempting. I just dont want to worry about cats etc.

I would almost rather spend a bit more, and get a header WITH cat.. that way i know its designed to work together, and not just hacked together and hoping.

Im definatly going to be adding the intercooler later on (likely catch can at same time). But want to decide on/finsih with the ECU tuning and pullies before doing that.
