BFP Stage 3 CF Intake

Well at the moment I have an Alta CAI and I love it. Sounds great, looks great, but I hate that stupid little whistle/hiss you get. It bugs the HELL out of me! So anyways, I was looking into the BFP Stage 3 CAI because it looks like every intake port that is stock is used. Does anyone know if there is still a whistle/hiss with this intake? What intakes sound as good as the Alta but give off no annoying noises at light throttle or cruising throttle? I know you can install the stock restrictor, but can you install it with the Alta intake still on? Thanks for all your help.

Someone on NAM has to be running this intake. I know its a 600 dollar system but everything is tried atleast once. I will find someone, I will just have to be patient.

Are we speaking about Benfer Performance? Are you looking for a insane intake that is just by chance carbon fiber?

I was running this intake for about 10000 miles... I loved it..... I am not sure about a whistle... I do not recall such a thing... I assume you are talking about the sound when you rev... from the tb opening... the initial squeak...? anywho... the BFP was much more quite... but under full throttle you can still hear the nice sound of the SC

hope that helps

I felt the same way. I liked the performance of the Alta, but hated the whistle. I decided to re-install it the old fashioned way...with the stock plastic cowl divider in place. But first, I cut two 2" holes in it, one in each of the top corners. Now I can only hear some very faint wistle, and that's when my window is down and I'm driving really slow. Performance? Throttle response is still nice and crisp and I didn't notice much of a drop, if any. Remember, most of the gains with a CAI are really high up in the rpm range, so if you don't spend much time up there you shouldn't see much of a decrease. For me, this is a great compromise.

I insulated the ALTA intake got rid of the whistle among other improvement results (far less prone to heat soak, wheeeeeeeeeeee factor improved, SC is now my WOT battle cry instead of a constant drone and kept all the benifits of the orginal install)

Fireballed - Why did you get rid of it? Its gorgeous! Did you find that you got better results with a different intake?

Jay - So the whistle is almost completely gone!? Did you still use the Alta Silicont Hose or not?

Motor On - What did you insulate it with? Please go into detail with the steps and what all you did to make it that much better. Please?

Here is the Page with my installation

I highly reccomed you checkout the rest of the thread for others methods and findings, I'm extremely happy with the results. I managed to use dome surplus material on its way to a dumpster for the insulation, there are some other more convertional and maybe even more funtion insulation options out there. Also not I have a custon box top on my CAI ( I made it for a total cost of $4 and 20 minutes and I still have excess supplies of aluminum in my garage, sound wise all the top did for me (I've heard claims of it taking away the whistle for others no such effect in my case) was direct the SC whine inward so there is more whine in the cabin and less dor standing on the street. I also no that the VGS as eliminated the whistle for some. Hope all this helps, let me know if you have more questions I'll see what I can do.

I don't have the alta hose, but the whistle was still very pronounced. And yes, the whistle is almost completely gone. In fact, when the windows are up I can't even hear it.
