This is a good idea! You could add the Larini Header and the MiniPilo Header ("reworked" Megan Header)...

I have a ceramic coating on my spare stock header. But they could only really do the outside.

Shortly, I'm ordering the GT Tuning header with detachable cat. It'll allow a thorough ceramic coating inside and out without worrying about damaging the cat.

Plus they also have a bypass pipe for track days.

2 1/2" diameter after the 1.5" primaries join.

Also, I had to replace TWO Miltek cats, which meant the whole header.

This set-up allows for the possibility of a failed cat without having to tear down the exhaust system to replace the cat.

To help with one of your question marks, yes, the OBX is 2.5". I think you're right on the Megan as well but I'll measure later.

What about the PlayMINI header?
http://www.myminiparts.com/proddetail.php?prod=CSH
A NM MINI member is installing one over the Megan which he also has. Seems to be better design and flange is certainly superior.

cheers,

I was right, I measured my Megan and it's 2.25" ID, just as you have it (Pilo is the same).

FWIW .... I have been through two cats on my Milltek and am awaiting a replacement as I type this.... the good news is that Milltek buys their cats from a firm in Germany who has Xrayed their "bad" cats and discovered the fault conditions.....they have done a redesign and the new ones should hit the states any day..... speak to Greg at Stratmosphere

Unless something has changed, the MTH cat is 400 cell.
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=50746

Janspeed makes the GTT header and their own header. they look the same to me. Does anybody know what the difference is? Is it just the welding style? GTT is TIG welded.

Looking good so far.. There is the GT Tuning Header and the Janspeed, also the MiniPilo (same as megan but "redesigned"), and the MyMINI header is actually a PlayMINI header. MyMINI just sells it. I'll look for info on the GTT and Janspeed.

FWIW - GT Tuning recommends the Janspeed on their website, for those who can't get their header.

nobody listens to me Jackson Racing @ Moss MINI $499

btw...i think the GTT header uses different welding than the Janspeed, and maybe thicker gauge tubing. i think the Playmini unit is also made by Janspeed.

MODERATORS... I vote for a sticky! Oh and, a re-title to "Header Reference Thread" would be good too.

I have London Stainless Headers, which I understand the Milltek is a copy of except the LS has a more expensive CAT, said Randy Webb at the time he was selling the LS. Don't forget the JCG (John Cooper Garages) Headers and there are a couple of impressive looking Japanese headers that have had pictures posted on here.

Here is another idea, let's try to get the dimensions, of the Headers that are of similar design, so we can compare them to each other. Flange thickness, gauge and type of tubing, primary diameter and length, secondary diameter and length for any 4-2-1's and exit diameter.

I imagine he's referring to the Saclam (sometimes Mugen?) header - gorgeous but quite expensive.....and I don't think it's available in the US. Pics have been posted in one or more threads in this forum, so a search here should turn some up - I think I also saw some converted pricing in one post or another.
