Randy (and Mark), I hope you are taking this all in. You are blowin it sport. by the time open forum starts to sound like this, your business is already in the hopper. All the good things you have done for this community will go down in flames with responses like these. Word to the wise.........

Wow, I was just think this when I ordered my m7 sport springs last week. I've been calling b/c I gave 'em the wrong CC number, but no reponse.

Not to hijack the thread, does anyone know of a vendor that HAS the m7 springs in stock? I have tried to find one but am unsuccessful. One of the vendors contacted m7 directly and said they were out of stock until early August. Could some one PM if they find anything?

Hi JP.....

I'm a little confused about you getting no response from us.......?
We have a fulltime staff here at the "Luxurious World Headquarters" that
would most certainly take care of any questions or concernes. As for any
springs sitting on shelves somewhere in this glorious country.... I don't think so.

Please call us at 562-608-8123

Sincerely

Damned if you do, damned if you don't...

Hey guys,
Just to point out some things. Randy and Brian were both completely across the country at Summit Point, West Virginia on June 29th. This is at least a very solid 2 day drive (each way) from his shop. Upon return from that we have the 4th of July holiday, and now it appears as others have pointed out, Randy is on vacation.

While without question it is frustrating to not have your orders filled in a timely manner, there is also a large contingent of people that have ponied up a lot of money from this same community to ask Randy to finish this year's North American MINI Cooper Championship. Randy had tried to gracefully back out of the race series this year, while continuing to sponsor Brian to finish the race series, but this is a pretty small grass-roots racing series. There were only 6 total cars in the race at Summit Point. In an effort to help see this inaugural race series finish the season with some success, Randy agreed to stay on and finish this year's season (and I should point out that his "sponsorship" from people at NAM and WhiteRoofRadio did not come close to fully covering his costs of attending these races).

My point is that I think we should exercise some caution before everyone jumps on the Randy bashing. I spoke with Randy at Summit Point, and he is putting a lot of effort in both money and time into product development for us, and has been fully dedicated basically since AMVIV until now to help Phil Wicks and the MINI championship races become a success. I know everyone realizes that he has done so much for this community. I would argue that our sponsorship of him to finish this year's races was an offer that would have hurt his reputation to turn down (and has hurt his time with his business by accepting).

We've put him in quite a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. If you are on the fence about ordering from him, he is a great guy, a great vendor and has great products. We don't always need next-day shipping for all of our parts, so don't be afraid to look him up.

-Eric

with all that said. There should be some one at the shop that can still take care of the people that are suporting him while he isnt there.

I find it amusing that this same thread pops up every month and yet people always step up and say "But Randy does so much for the MINI community and he races and he develops cool new products...we need to cut him some slack!"

I think it's cool that he races the cars and promotes the series. I love his design on the CAI and the thought/time/cash/effort that has gone into the switched exhaust. He sounds like a top notch guy! I'm definately not Randy-bashing.

What I don't understand, from a pure business perspective, is how he can NOT afford to hire a reasonably well organized high-school grad to take orders, compile a call-back list, respond to non-technical emails and put the product into boxes. No wrenching skills required... just a decent head on his/her shoulders. From my very distant perspective, it seems that he is doing everything right for his company EXCEPT generate revenue!

If a local resturant had cool advertising, sponsored local charities / kiddie sports teams, had fair prices and wonderful food, would you go? What if it took 4 hours to get your entree on the table? Would you wait for the food to arrive? Would you return?

I see a recurring theme in these threads that people are not only concerned about the timely shipping of their orders and response to their questions, they are concerned about the loss of an innovator and advocate for our community. Randy: These threads don't arise because people hate you... they arise because the community likes and needs you. I want a pully, one of your CAIs and the exhaust in a few years... don't fail me now!

Sure, but it's almost like as soon as he pushes out a new product he's got instantaneous overwhelming demand for it. Having grown up in a small business family, it's tough when you have to do everything all at once, all at once... Certainly it seems he needs more help, but let's not forget everything else he's done for us and has been up to...

Sure guys, of course you have good points. I'm not even saying that you don't... Just to point out, sometimes this is how I feel about some of the issues/quirks I've had with my MINI. But it's also still a MINI. Randy apparently has had issues filling orders, but he's also served ~800-ish at his pulley-parties (which others now emulate).

Anyway, I don't want to hijack this thread anymore. I've said my peace...

Randy gets this bashing about every 2-3 months..... Someone please become a managing partner of the day to day business and put Randy out of his misery......

Being a 4 year veteran of NAM, I would like to propose that this thread be made a "Sticky". This exact same topic comes up at least once a month. The responses are always the same. Many folks complain, others stand up for Randy. The bottom line is, same old, same old.

He's apparently pretty much abandoned his own web site, which used to have a pretty active forum on it.

I too am an ex-customer of Webb Motorsports. I was a {victim, sucker, take your pick} of the whole Powerchip fiasco way back when. I consider it a $700 lesson learned.

I'm not gonna pull any punches. I will never purchase anything from them again. And I would really like to know where the hell my Unichip is.

As far as I'm concerned all the Webb supporters can say what they want. I have heard that crap of "people have lives" one to many times. When i spend money i want parts. I don't expect any miracles...just your basic monday to Friday 9-5 service just as 90% of any other aftermarket parts companies do. I ordered a pulley and sent my Unichip back for retune on the 10th of June. I had to go behind their backs and call Cravenspeed myself to find my pulley as it was lost in shipping.

Now where's my Unichip? I sent Brian a PM as I saw him and Randy both have had time to post crap on NAM in the last couple days but yet no time to return my calls, emails or whatever. Brian tells me to talk to Randy but Randy's telling me to talk to Brian.

To make it better i guess I caught Randy on the phone the day he was leaving for holiday...said he'd call me right back...nice move man. I guess this is my own fault, I've read all the old threads and such. I am a very, very nice guy. I trust everyone s I figured "hey these guys can't be all bad. WRONG. Intentional or not you can't treat people this way. If your gonna run a business half assed, take off to race events go on vacation and then lie straight up to your customer and pass the buck off on one another then you deserve what you get. These guys need to post "part time" or "unreliable" somewhere on their site.

I will probably get bashed for this but i dont care. Get your heads out of your a__ guys and stop dumping on hard working folks like me who prepay and are waiting for their stuff or even tell me straight "Well golly Seann we have races, then vactation then more races and somewhere in between we'll do your stuff" I would've just gone elsewhere, no big deal. Like I said if I didn't contact their supplier direct my pulley would still be lost, too. Gee lets not forget the $100 I lost on a dyno booking cause my car sat on jack stands for a weekend cause my stuff never came.

I know these guys have done a lot and blah blah blah. I treat Randy's how to as a bible and have learned a lot from them. But those things are not relevant to me when I feel I have been made a fool of. It's not fare to be put ion a situation as this where i feel I need to post frustrations on the net like an idiot because these guys don't seem to care to much.

Sadly, I have got to agree. Randy seems to need someone with business focus running the day-to-day activity. I don't know what is keeping him from bringing in a partner that handles operations, but it is probably beyond critical mass at this point.

Ex customer here as well....the folks over at Mini-Madness, and LDG get nothing but praise from me for there products, workmanship, and most importantly customer service.

Some people have what it takes and others could not even run a lemonade stand.....

I fully expect to see a vendor announcement from WMS with more excuses as to why the customer continues to get the shaft along with more bs as to why the WMS product is so much better than the others.

Try picking up "Business Management for Dummies" or going over to your local community college and taking a class or two.

Unfortunately, it is more than something as simple as reading up on how to run a company or taking some courses at a community college. From my observations, Randy strikes me as a very creative type. Creative types rarely are operational focused - the two functions are almost mutually exclusive.

Well, in my case, I couldn't make up my mind between twin-charge and M7 Cosworth package, after talking to Randy he pretty much had me convinced on the twin-charge and I was planning on having him install it, Helix is way too far from me, Randy is about 1400 miles but I wonder if he would have time to do it between Nov and March? after reading all of this, I think I might have to forget the Turbo, Alta is an other option, since I can install it myself but I haven't hear anything too reassuring yet, at this point it seems like M7 is my only answer, Peter even email me before I even ask questions, I talked to him on the phone twice already and always after business hour, so at this point my decision is almost only based on facts as I don't see too many options left.

Wow, its been a while since i got anything from Web. and from all the talk, it looks like if i order i better not expect it anytime soon. Its sad that Web does not have someone on the phones that can deal with shipping parts, and such with such a large group, its easy to bypass a few that seem to complain, but over the last month I have noticed the number growing.

I have been looking at the ECU chip that Randy sells, but im waiting, im twitchy to order and then set for months to get it or have to send it back for retune and wait months.

I have had Good dealings with Randy in the past, but that was 3 years ago, in the early years. Recently i have been working with WAY motorsports, Peter M7, and Harrision Motorsports. Great reviews for all three. Peter at M7 must have some kind of super power because i send an email and i barely push the enter button before i get a response... to me thats realy great... nice to see they watch email and keep it under control. WAY also responds quickly and harrison is local to Atlanta and I trust them totaly with any work.

I guess only time will tell with Webb and Randy, until he gets someone to handle all his shipping, ordering etc... and maybe keep a notebook handy to answer emails, pm's and posts so the Mini group feels like he is not hidding.... He is a geat guy and I think we stand to benifit alot from Him and others out there.
