Drivetrain What's your OBX experience?
I just bought and installed this on my 05,had to redo the hangers. It is not a cat back as stated it starts at the rear axle, not the cat.On the drive home the peice of metal that seperates the tips actually bent when it got warm and my tips were touching each other so I had to redo them.It does have a good sound,no problem in the cabin going down the highway like some I have heard.I would not buy it again,I would spend a little more on a different system, but now that I have it I will keep it.
I got one, it looked great untill I looked at the flange that bolts to the head.
All the primaries & the manifold gasket were high, low, left or right of the flange openings by 1/4 in. Mine looks great hanging on the wall
(oh well). If you buy one.....don't inspect it before putting it on.

I have BOTH the OBX HEADER and EXHAUST.
There is a thread out there where i went into a lot of detail BUT here is a summary -
1) great bang for the buck but not a true or FULL catback.
2) it is based on the SuperSprint and it is on the loud side. No issue with highway cruising(i.e. no drone). I have actually found over time it has actually mellowed a bit. Other MINI drives says it sounds good!
3) install - found the clamps to be the cheapies and decided to use stainless instead. Also found that when I went to connect to stock pipe their pipe size was off but was easily resolved. I too had a little problem at the tips (i.e. coming together) the weld that spaces them is not very robust. I had Midas weld a bolt across the top and back of the tips - sucker doesn't move no more!
Is it the perfect / best system - NO! Is it worth the money = YES!

You actually want the flange ports at least 1/8 larger that the head ports to prevent reversion.
Chamfer all the flange bolt holes on the bolt side then send it out to JET HOT for coating. They coat inside and out after prepping.
I have/had some pictures up on the original post that Bahamabart OR WAS THAT MadMick put up on the OBX header.

The first thing I did when I took it out of the box was check it against the gasket. Then the gasket against a header MTH sent us to get coated. If I were to only match to the head (forget about reversion) I would have to grind well beyond the outside of the primaries walls & then there is the opposite side thats equally askew. And they are all like that.
Where I work we strip the Jet Hot coating off customers parts & replace with mo better stuff

I finally had the OBX header installed today. I am running it to my stock cat that I had cut off my original header. I paid a local shop to do the work for me because having a lift makes life so much easier. It took them about 2.5 hours to do and they charged me $150 (probably a little high, but it was done by a trustworthy shop). They said they had a little trouble getting the last bolt on the header to line up right and had to do some drilling.
When I'm driving the car I can definitely tell a smoother midrange (2500-5000rpm), but no huge power gains. I was expecting the car to sound extremely loud, but to my astonishment it sounds the same. My friend was following me home after the installation. I accelerated to redline a few times to see how the car felt. He told me I had some black smoke come out inbetween shifts and he said the exhaust is louder than before.
Its only been on for about 9 hours, but I am extremely satisfied. Also today, I touched up some small rock chips on my aero kit and the car looks better than ever. I am installing a new engine motor mount later tonight after the car cools off... What a day

I've heard BahamaBart OBX header/exhaust combo last Friday @ our "fun Mod" party...
It sounds great, looks great and seems to fit great too.
He has a SuperSprint exhaust tip on his, and it sure looks awesome!

Well, I went and bought a Remus. Should be here tomorrow and I'll install it either Thursday or Friday evening. I'm keeping the stock header so we'll see what my SOP dyno reports afterwards. I'm not really expecting and HP gains, just some mellow music.
