Forge intake silicone hose

Hi motorers,

My brother got his cold air intake installed at a local speedshop today. He owns an Audi A4.

While waiting, the owner of the shop told me he ordered a Forge intake silicone hose for a guy and never heard of this guy ever since. So he was stuck with the part.

The price was 140$, and his cost was 90$. Since he was stuck with it for 3 months, and after putting it on eBay twice, he still had it, he asked me to do an offer.... I offered him 50$ and he accepted.

So I got home, and installed it. First, this part need a lot of cutting to be fitted. Just like Alta hose. BTW, I have an Alta cold air intake, but without the hose. I cut about 2 inched on the top (that connects to the airbox) and 1 inch on the bottom (throttle body side)

It now fot great, but was a PITA to get fitted. I only had basic tools and had to deal with it. As you all know, room is tight under a MINI bonnet, and especially when you have to tighten a clamp near the throttle body lol

It sure looks great, but I'd would have like to get a red hose to match my intercooler hoses. Well, for a great deal like this, I didn't have the chance to choose the color...lol

Here's some pics of it installed... I'll testdrive it later tonight.

I think you got a good deal. The cheapest that I've seen those for has been $90. Better to have to trim a bit off than to have try & stretch it too fit.

Thats a pretty sweet deal.

50 bucks for a sillicone look-a-like.

I digg it.

Alta need some cutting, but not as much as the Forge one.

I also think this was an awesome deal! The only downside is that I whish it was red but I really don't bother that much with color for that price...

I'll go testdrive it tonight and get back with some driving impressions after.

Now I only need to get my shifter bushing fixed... (read other thread for details... )

You can always sell it for $60 and pay the other $30 to get a red ALTA hose.

It doesn't really bother me, as it has the same functions as a red one lol

I just came back from a ride. It feels exactly like before lol. But it guess it can't be bad to have a better intake hose, with smoother interior surface... I just look foward to get that shifter bushing fixed and I'll be a happy driver!

Sorry I didn't see your post...

I don't know how wide is the Alta hose, but the Forge is wider than stock for sure. And it shares the "mirror smooth" inside surface.

I didn't feel any big difference from the stock one, but I really think it helps for sure.

I just got Webb airbox last weekish and obvioulsy they are still backordered or whatever on their hose. It turns out while I was snooping on Samco's site for replacement rad hoses they actually make a replacement intake hose, too.

I am picking mine up today and will let you guys know how it fits.

Ok here's the dirt. For anyone in the dark here is the link to the Samco site.

http://www.samcosport.com/us/samco.asp?make=bmw

As you can see they make a replacement rad hose kit as well as the air intake kit. I ordered both from Jay @ Coopersport. The intake hose was ~$100Canadian and the rad hose kit was $165 Cdn. As far as i know they were not backorded. I got the typical blue colour and I believe Jay had it for me in about a weekish.

I think they have hose kit in 7 or 8 colours and you can even order corresponding replacement clamp sets to pretty everything up. I will just snag some new ones from the local hardware store as i am a ******* and forgot.

For those of you that know Samco...there products usually speak for themselves. For those that don't...well i guess you do now.

I am doing the install after work one day next week. I will post results then and hopefully have a few pics.

Forge also use Samco hoses and only put their name on it.

So you can expect some great quality products from them. The hose is really thick and won't collapse.

I went to a local junk yard and found a ricer intake which was 3in in diameter off some POS car.....Paid next to nothing and chop it so i had a perfect 90 and got a reducer for the TB....works perfect.

None of these appear to have an inlet for the valve cover vent hose.
Anyone know if they do or not?
