For complicated reasons, I may soon have to choose between the K&N intake and the MINI MANIA intake (that looks fairly stock). I've seen Randy's comments about the K&N. Pretty impressive...if I don't mind leaving my hood up.

Does anyone have any experience with the Mini Mania intake?

If so, please give me the lowdown. Thanks. JR

I'm not sure if you mean the MINI Madness instead of the MINI Mania?? Mania sells the K&N, which you've already commented on.

Let me know, and I'd be happy to give you my opinion on both.

Randy

If you're talking about the Madness intake, I have it and love it. But it looks like stock??? Uh, no. THe stock is a closed box with a flat filter, the Madness, well, isn't.

I love it. Cheap (relatively, of course), easy to install (so no installation costs or time in the shop) and makes a noticeably louder whine (which is such a sweet sound) and noticeably more power. Not a lot of power mind you, but you can certainly tell there's more. It also looks great.

Check some of the other thread b/c there are LOADS of info here about the different intakes. CHeck out Randy's MINI-MOTORSPORT also. That's where I got mine.

Thanks for the responses, guys. I'm familiar with the Madness intake, but I'm referring to another product. It's made by Mini Mania and looks like a slightly modified factory airbox with high flow filter. Hopefully this link works...

I'm basically in a "barter" situation with my dealer who deals with MINI MANIA. They are steering me towards mania's Stage 1 kit, which seems light in the HP department to me.

If the link doesn't work and you're interested in seeing the intake, go to http://www.minimania.com and go to the performance section. You should be able to find it there.

Thanks for the help. JR

Good point! Geez, barter or not, I hope your dealer knows what they're talking about before they start modding your car!!!!!!!!!
