What is does this mean (Dinan)?

I was looking at the Dinan intake for our MCS and noticed this in the description..

Required Products: Stage 3 Engine Software Required. Free Flow Exhaust Recommended
Is this a download or a chip?

What I do know is that it $399 at the dealer and $50 to install.

Any extra info would be great.

I have the Dinan air box on my silver car without the engine software and it's great. I also have a few other tidbits working in unison.

Partsman109, thanks for the reply. The dealership said it is required but the guys I spoke with this weekend made no mention. I do not mind doing it but I just do not what it does. The funny part is our dealership just started to carry the Dinan line and they also have no idea what it is. They are looking into it as I type, but I just wanted to get some of my own info as well.

Thanks

Numerous MINIs in our local club have the Dinan intake without the software -- all work just fine. IMHO, the software may maximize the intake, but not enough for you to notice -- unless you had the full exhaust to go with it.

So this software is not really going to change anything?

Lets say I get the software with the intake and a few months I go with their exhaust I need to get the additional software for $499. Or if I wait and get the software after both the intake and exhaust is done will the $499 cover both?

You should talk to 1FSTMINI, he is a Dinan rep. You can find him on here and nemini.org
