So is it possible to pull out the shaft completely?

No,
The shaft is trapped, so you can't go too far in either direction.

Thanks

I have to say thatnk you to Dave, Dan and Cliff who have been answering questions that I should have been fielding. Thanks guys, always feel free to jump in and share your MINI knowlege in this forum. I will also try to stay on top of this thread!

I was wondering if you guys would be able to make a round ball shift **** just like the one Whallen sells but in anodized Red alluminum that i could then send to whallen for engraving?

Thanks a bunch

-HAPA
~Hapa~ We don't make a round shift ****, but we do have red. I can lazer engrave anything you like on the ****.

Here's some pictures of my Craven installs.
Thanks for all your help Kellen.
The only down side of your shifter vs. my old B&M is that now my wife likes to drive my car more because the shifting is a lot easier!
(the comarison photo shows the stock, the Craven in both positions- photoshopped, and the B&M).
(the gaugues are autometer ultra lite series & pro mini).

Custom engraving

Shea,

Everything looks great! I liked your idea for the Union Jack **** so much that Louise has one on too. Excellent shoice of gauges, looking very OEM. Glad to hear you are enjoying the custom engraved equiptment.

We have reorganized the way we offer engraving. Since we can engrave almost any item, as you took advantage of, we have a small graphic set-up fee of $25. Then we just need $1 per piece.

Stay Tuned.

We have made some caps, which were intended for the front of cup, but should also fit the back. They are available with cutouts for wires. They are anodized aluminum like the cups. They are nice, but may be more than you need.

I had a great suggestion from a customer. He found that spray paint can tops are the perfect size. They are available in the gloss black color to match and are easily cut to allow the exact amount of space needed for LEDs and wires. This seems like the better solution for a better price than we can offer on a low run, billet aluminum, anodized cap.

We have a Q&A thread?

I had all but forgotten that we have a Q&A thread. Anyone have any questions for me to answer, or to find answers to?

If I said you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me?

Just to clarify.

You short shifter doesnt just shorten the length of the shaft inside the cabin but also lengthens the part attached to the cables going to the transmission. Is that correct?

That is correct. The steel shaft of the shifter moves independently of the pivot point. It slides up and down to adjust and locks in place with a twisting collar.

Thanks for the question!

I went your site regarding the pod for the R56, but I couldn't link to anything that stated the gauge kits came with instructions for the R56 (specifically speaking to installing a boost, oil or water temp gauge). Is such a package ready to go for the R56 (ie: flexpod with boost and/or oil temp/pressure or water temp)? Thanks.

We are planning on adapting our shift well cover to fit the R56, but there is no sceduled release date. Thank you for making it known that you are interested, that helps us to prioritize our projects since we want to supply the MINI community with the parts they want.

what size guages will fit in the R56 flexpod?
All of our FlexPod modules will fit the new 'W' bracket for the R56. You could choose 52mm(2-1/16") 60mm(2-3/8") or 66mm (2-5/8") sized gauge cups

There is currently not a package that includes gauges and gauge installation instructions for the R56 like the one that Atlantic British offers for Bracket X http://www.minicarparts.net/Parts/M4300K1.cfm
I would like to see such a kit become avaiable in the near future.

Thank you for your questions....ask me some more!

With the gauge cups attached to the top of the tach on the R56 FlexPod, are the gauges (specifically the top in a dual cup setup) visible through the steering wheel? Do you have pics?

I went a took a photo of the way we decided to setup on Lassie, our R56. There is an open attachment point on the right...but it isn't very visable. This setup looks good and is the least expensive way to add two gauges. The dual cups allow the gauge to sit further away from the attachment point, if you want a single or a pair of singles, I reccomend using the 'eye bone' module to acheive the same effect.

I do have a larger version of this photo, or I could take some more as well if it is more helpful.

Just let me know what I can do. Thanks for the question.

Thanks for the reply. The "above the steering wheel" layout is probably more visible in the long run, but could the "eye bone" be used to achieve more of a layout like the R53 version (bottom gauges close to the steering column)?

Yes, here is a photo of how a pair of Eye Bones can put the gauges below the steering wheel.

Is that what you are talking about? I would be happy to take some more photos of different arrangements.

That's close. I'm a big fan of your R53 Quad Pod setup that places two gauges between the tach and steering column, on each side, and would like to duplicate that with the R56 if possible. The whole setup is very functional and even fills in the empty space around the tachometer.

I apologize for asking so many questions, especially since it will be a while before I purchase any gauges, but I'm just planning ahead a little.

Thanks for your help.
