Well is me again,

I just got a call from my local dealer who shared with me that he just got an exhaust system from J Cooper Works.
He said... and i quote....." Dennis, I figured that if anyone would like to be the 1st one to try this...it would be you "

Now who on this site would be surprised by that statement ...rofl

I haven't seen it yet , but I just spoke to Randy who also feels that it is probably the J Cooper Works exhaust , that will be a part of the J Cooper 200 HP Mod.
Dunno for sure yet.

I have an appointment to have it installed on this coming Wednesday.
I'll post more info as it becomes available.

What a long strange trip...it continues to be

Peace,
D

Dennis,
Wednesday will be my last night in Glen Cove. It would be cool to check out this new exhaust and compare our "old ears". Looking forward to getting together next week.

Dennis many of us appreciate the toilsome and expensive research you've done on exhaust systems. My quiksilver remains in the shipping wrap, until I hear your results with the new system.Good luck, thanks for your continued efforts. Mike

Actually Mike, it hasn't been all that expensive for him .

By the way, is anyone interested in a discounted Quicksilver that was returned by someone who will remain anonymous?

On a side note, I am still waiting for a throttle body supply to get here. I am working hard to get a steady supply of these to market. I know you had expressed interest, and I just haven't contacted anyone because I still have yet to get product.

I haven't done a comparison for a while, so here is a short one on the exhaust situation:

From a noise perspective in order of softest to loudest -

Borla (a more raspy note, but not as loud as anything else out there except for stock) $660 roughly - 7 or so horsepower - 35 lbs

Quicksilver (a higher pitched note that has very little drone to most folks ears , but still has a modest sound increase) $800 roughly - 10 or so hp - 20 lbs

Magnaflow (the throatiest of the bunch, with a low purposeful sound that is a tad too loud for some folks - but a cool sound) $600 roughly - 13 or so hp - 35 lbs

UUC - still unknown, the test will be 2 1/2 weeks from now I've been told.

There are a couple others out there - the Remus (which is a nice system, but uses part of the factory set up and requires some cutting), the B&B which is slightly heavier than the other aftermarket stuff and makes about 6 hp, the Eisenmann, which I'm still waiting to get here (it looks very nice, will be around $1000, and make 7 or so hp from the preliminary info I've been given), and the Supertrapp which is pretty loud (louder than the Magnaflow) but is cheap and weighs around 19 lbs (it again uses the factory system and requires some cutting, as well as a side outlet due to the battery box). The Supertrapp numbers can vary based on how many discs are used, but have been reported to make as much as 15 hp.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Well sorry to report ......but it's bad news....regarding this so called JCW exhaust
I just got off the phone w/ the service guy at the dealership who stated that the exhaust system was ..actually for a MINI not a MCS.
Scary how people don't pay attention to details.
Bummer...for sure.
I'm a bit disappointed, but such is life.

Peace,
D

Curious. I thought the JCW stuff for the MINI was not coming over here, only the S kit.

So I'm guessing that the mysterious "Sport Exhaust (listed at $675) in the new accessories brochure for the Cooper is actually the JCW exhuast from the Euro MC JCW kit. Very very interesting.

That is fascinating...and there were some rumors way back about a factory cold air intake upgrade for the MC as well...

Personally I like my Rogue Engineering exhaust, 24 pounds, bit more pull around 4 to 5K, which matters to me in AX, and I haven't the patience or dyno to tune a supertrap. 11 punds less than the stock on my MC. Good baritone and Mini Madness has the sound files on their website.

Does drone a bit at 70+, but I didn't buy it for audio comfort.

Thank you George at Mini Madness.

Is there a muffler system which would permit to a nice hitch installation?
