In driving the new cars..... 2nd really impresses me out of the corners.... but the rest of it..... I could care less about..... Is there a way to re gear (custom) the 02 tranny.... who does it.....and what is the cost...... anyone want a project?

 

A good trans shop should be able to do it. Find out who the Honda or Audi guys use for trans work.

 

There was a long thread about the 05-06 gear ratios, no?

I think what came outta that thread was, either stick with what you've got, get a 05-06 gearbox or get those pretty expensive straight cut gearset from Mini Mania.

Life's been too busy for me to further pursue this, but I did some research and have heard generally good things about the possibility. You may be able to find the one final drive gear which handles second gear and swap it out, only. The applicable new ratios are listed in the thread.
