Milltek header note?

Has anyone had the Milltek Cat-back installed with and without the Milltek headers?

How much of a difference between the two in loudness and note?

There is not much difference if any.

Milltek cat back exhaust is louder than stock by a little (more than Borla street).
Add a Milltek header and it's about the same.

I had a quicksilver single sided MCS exhaust and that was louder than stock then added the milltek header and it was much louder than with the stock header. Then I switched to the milltek exhaust from the quicksilver and it was not as loud as with the quicksilver and milltek header combo.

Also you can talk to Randy Webb (webbmotorsports.com) and Eric Savage (helix13.com), they have done various combos with and without headers.

A friend parted some of his car out and sold his cat-back to me and his header to another guy. We put the Milltek header on with stock exhaust and we were able to notice only a slight difference over stock with a 19% and CAI. Now if he goes for the one-ball, it'll probably be a more noticeably londer than stock.

FWIW - I recently purchased a used Milltek header from Onasled and bolted up to my Milltek cat back. The incremental increase in noise is roughly equivalent to the bump up in sound that you get after adding the Milltek cat back to the stock header. It does drone at @3-3,500 rpm on the highway, so you either drop down a gear or speed up (I find that the drone goes away at about 90mph in sixth). WOT in any gear is much louder. The mid range torque increase is noticable. Enjoy, you won't regret it.....

Cheers,

Greatbear had compiled a number of exhaust sounds from various attendees of MOTD 2004, including Milltek catback only and Milltek catback+Milltek header, that might be helpful to you. While these were taken from various cars, it is a particularly nice comparison since all the sounds were recorded in the same environment with the same instruments, and were sampled and downmixed by one person.

Go to Greatbear's post.

HTH!

It really is better than the sticky exhaust thread in the Drivetrain forum - I was thrilled when I stumbled across it.

Greatbear (and everyone who contributed to those sound clips), if you're reading this, I could kiss you!
