Drivetrain Destroyed Clutch...19%
Make sure it is the clutch. I took my 03 S in because of noise from the clutch and not clutch slipping. They replaced everything but the clutch (I thought this was cheap and have protested) itself under warrenty, including a new flywheel. However, the only thing that I paid for was a new $200 clutch. I had 35,000 miles at the time. They mentioned that had a bullitin about noise issues that made them procede to to the repairs.

If the clutch is not slipping but noisy you might have what my S had. They had a bullitin about noise being a parts problem and did my whole clutch assembly including the flywheel under warrenty. I did have to pay for a new clutch($200). But it had 35,000 miles so I wasn't too upset.
You might work on anger management. That might help the car out.

Chris,
Sorry to hear what happend to your car! I hope for the most part you were enjoying the pulley! I talked to Eric about warranty issues with his pulley and he said that if I were to have any problems with the dealer, i.e. princeton bmw for me, to take it to mini of main line and they should not give me any issues. So what I am trying to say is, if you have issues with your dealer i.e. morristown mini, see if you can tow it to Mini of Main Line and see if they can warranty the clutch. Maybe give Eric a call and see what he has to say about the whole thing. Maybe he can give you a few tips to get this resolved nicely! Best of luck to you bud and keep me posted. Hope to see that mini on the road soon and get some good driving going for the warm weather! By the way, you did go to conn. for the dyno day right? How did that all go? Did Bryan get his car dynoed?

As for taking out the pulley...haha...everyone at the dealer knows about it anyway!
I am sorry...
chris, ignore the naysayers and see what Mini of Mo'town says, you are in good rapor with them. Remember that your car was a dealer vehicle... so let them know that as well... I remember the first time we went for a run, youve come a long way with your driving skills since then
Good luck buddy!

After thinking about it for a while, 18k is too short a time for any clutch. I don't kare how you drove it. You would have had to break the center out of the disk to void the warranty. Just slide your foot off the clutch..... Boom, no clutch..... That kind of abuse would be seen by the dealer.
18k is a shorttime for a clutch as you gotta be REALLY abusing it for it to go out that early unless it's defective. It could be partly your driving style as you mentioned and partly the clutch as it could've been defective but the extra power just made it worse speeding up the clutch wear.
Usually dealerships won't warranty a clutch but if you have a good relationship w/ your dealership and bought a lot of cars from them. All warranty has to go through BMW/MINI and must be oked by them. Your dealership can either fight for you or just do as BMW/MINI says.

Just take it in see what they say. It really depends on if they are getting heat for doing too many. If they can't get authorization to tear it down, then they'll ask you to pre authorize it. If they get it a part and feel it was abused, then it is on you. When mine was creaking and juddering at 30k that wasn't a gamble I was willing to take. I could do it for much less on my own. When I finally got it apart the wear surfaces looked perfect. The forman at the shop where I work now said it looked better than the ones that come out of BMW m3 smg's (computer controlled manual transmission). That was after dragging it and then purposely abusing it to see what would happen as I already had the new clutch to go in.
If you truly didn't abuse it, then make a big stink about it. That maintenance warranty is rolled into the cost of the car.

Hopefully I will take it in on Tuesday and see what they say... If they don't do it, I will call MINIUSA. If they still don't do it, any recommendations for an aftermarket clutch? ANyone?

It's awful.
Now with the dealership: they have removed the transmission today and looked at the pressure plate. Apparently there were "spots" on it, and they started questioning what the hell I had done to it....Nothing.....
So now, we just have to see how bad the damage is, and also whether or not I broke my transmission...That's bad..... But I don't think I did. If the damage isn't expensive, It's looking like it will be warrantied. If not, I'm paying about a grand and going aftermarket. That's all for now, I will let all of you know tomorrow when they fully crack it open!
Sorry for the long time no repost.

You didnt break the tranny.
I broke a tranny in an MC and it too quite a lot and I BEAT THE LIVING HELL out of that car!
The MCS has a much, MUCH stronger tranny.
Worst case, you messed up a few synchros, but that would make it hard to get the car into gear and you would need to rev match to get it to slide in.
