You already did, the Ram Air Scoop.
Moving the air, of course is much easier than moving the IC. But with the DFIC at $900, can't do it right now. I gotta eat!

Okay so I'm running a thermal coated stock IC. nice product, cools off quick. This is an old thread so I'm bringin it back, but I'm hoping for something new to hear. Why isn't there a FMIC for the R53? Is there something out there that I'm missing? I know it can be done but sustom costs are rediculous. What was wrong with the Webb design, and are there any left anywhere? Let me know.

Here are some of the issues...

The engine rocks back to front. So you need some flex in the coupling, and you need to stiffen the engine mounts to limit motion. Then there's the tight packaging, so you're going to spend some effort to make it up to where the IC will be. It's not impossible, but it's not easy.

I don't think Randy is making any more of the FMICs that he used to sell, but I don't know for sure.

Anyway, the increased complexity of the system drives the cost up so the delta to step up to W2A is smaller, making the target market smaller as well.

Matt

also because you can go w2a front mount and not have to do nearly as extensive body modifications to get it to work... idk if this is a real reason, but its a possible one.

Nice! I've always wondered if it would be possible to stack a big enough FMIC in this spot without impacting the performance of the other cores. Can't wait to see some numbers...
