Drivetrain Front Mount Stock Intercooler

I really don't think that a smaller IC, stock or aftermarket, in front will reduce the effectiveness of the condenser or the radiator. The only way to know is to try it.
There are almost always trade-offs in such endeavors, and a cost/benefit analysis often helps to discern utimately if the output will be worthwhile. The concern about increased volume and corresponding pressure-loss are real of course. And while the degree of impact is debatable, putting more and more components forward the radiator will not allow it to work as well as it would otherwise. All considerations in the whole grand scheme of things...
As many know, Webb is now running with the Gintani manifold/IC set-up, and not that FMIC. While ground-breaking, its relatively high price-point, and some growing pains have made other options just more viable...

I wanted your input on a front mount setup using the stock IC or a aftermarket one.

From M7's website:

FIY...the relief design on top of this product is curteousy of your truely
Given some of the aforementioned obstacles and drawbacks, and the obvious benefits of the forward-facing unit (FMIC), trying to replicate those in a location that addresses the negatives seems like an ideal approach to getting improved cooling of the charged air...

JS, what are you referring to. The m7 unit?

Spoke with Peter of M7, and he confirmed that he will have one to see in Vegas starting today. Not 100% complete, but close enough to finally show...

Dr.Obnxs' thread about timing retard taking away from the mods really got my wheels going. There is a way to get the charge air temp cold enough so the ECU won't pull the timing back as much. I just have to figure it out.
That was indeed a good thread, and Matt is great at getting to the bottom of things. He helped me analyze the IC/scoop testing I performed last Summer, and his knowledge was truly needed to help me clarify my data points. Ironically, it was that testing and much contemplating before, during and after that led to this new design for the MINI...
If Matt got over a cold, he should be in Vegas also! I had to balk this time...

I do know that it is there, and people can and have seen it, so I hope someone gets something up soon. We've all worked very hard on this, and we're all very excited to get it out there to you all!
