For those not looking for a really loud exhaust, the Borla street exhaust for the MCS is widely available, is louder than the stock exhaust, looks better and weighs less than the stock exhaust, and is a good choice for the daily driver.

Borla sport takes things up a notch with a more serious but not overly loud exhaust note. A good choice for those not looking for a quiet aftermarket cat-back exhaust system. For those with performance in mind, Borla Sport is worth considering.

I've heard both and either is a good choice. Before buying it's always good to find a MINI with the exhaust you want and go for a ride and listen from the outside and from within the MINI. Check for droning which happens about 2900-3000 rpm at constant speed.

Better check if exhaust cutoff valves are legal in your state because it wont be just a "fix-it" ticket ... In some states its a Class 3 Misdeamer on public highways ... OK sold if for "off road use only".

Cat? I was talking about the bypass valve. I do know that removing a Cat is a federal offense. Not that its relative to CA cause I dont know your emission laws, I do know that when I just went in for emission testing, they were teaching a class to inspector newbies and I heard them say not to worry about CATs because the car will flunk ... they werent cops ... just inspectors. I have no idea.

Is that just cali? or all states??

So like...I have obx header, if I wanted to swap my cat in/out at a track it would be a new donut gasket each time..

But I think I will go put my cat back in this week then.

Federal law is all states. Dont know about Arizona emission testing. If they have a program

Remember though, they got to catch you and how are they going to do that. I think the law is intended to stop the "sellers" of racing cats to street cars. That is where the fines would get huge. I have no idea if any consumer has been prosecuted for doing that ... but you might want to read this.

"Besides being an illegal modification, removal of a catalytic converter is just as likely to decrease horsepower as it is to increase it. It's true that most original equipment converters create enough exhaust system backpressure to adversely affect performance so a straight pipe in place of a catalytic converter would appear to be the optimum configuration for maximum power.
But appearances are often deceiving ..."

lol i live in australia, so i'll have to ring up the police or something. By the way, apparently if they catch you without a cat in the Victoria ( a state in Australia), its an on the spot AUD10k fine. Too bad, i really wanted to de-cat my car. Apparently you can spit flames if you back of at 5krpm

I just got back from Helix and spent less than 1200, and the car has really changed in character. A little more beastly.
