Looks like this kit should give around +45hp / +25lbft

Of course, installation is probably another $1000

most ppl tend to agree on a 12% approx drivetrain loss...200bhp is 176 whp....

to be honest, the supercharger whine is really growing on me. A little more sounds good to me. (I think the JCW sounds great! )

o-ron, I'm glad I found your thread. I just ordered an MCS at the beginning of March and I toiled over the JCW option. I ultimatley decided it wasn't worth it, but in the back of my mind I still wonder. I did decide on the JCW air filter kit and chose Chili Red paint to off-set the cost. The first thing I want to do is change the pulley. Keep us posted which pulley you decide on. Do you know if it is bolted, pressed, or both? I wouldn't think it would be too hard of a job but I'm new to this and I havn't received mine yet to look it over.

it will probably be some time before I have this done. it really all depends on how happy I am with the stock engine.. (I'll know after my 2k miles roadtrip home!)

I'll also have it installed either by the dealer or by someone who will warranty it. I'm looking for a Randy Webb pulley party, because he warrants it through the rest of your manufacturer warranty (thus giving incentive to get it sooner rather than later). With that, i might get it at 3k miles and then theoretically have another 47k miles of warranty on everything.

Hijack :-)

What if your car already has 15% red-pulley, ECU upgrade, Denso plugs, CAI, what would be the best 'bang-for-buck' between:
  • 2% Crank pulley
  • Larger TMIC (e.g. GRS)
  • Headers
Thanks

2% crank pulley in absolute terms and NOT 2% in risk-adjusted terms. I think the jury is still out on the crank pullies.

took me three times to understand that, but it's spot on correct. The crank pulley is really easy to install, and not too expensive, and you get a really responsive, and quick-revving engine, and about 1-2 psi of extra boost. I'd personally go with headers, as they are safe, and the stock headers are pretty restrictive and worse than that, they're ugly

TMIC is not good for bang for buck, but ur engine will run smoother and cooler. Expensive tho, and you don't get much bang....

so if ur a risk taker, get the pulley, and if you want some more grunt across the rev range, a nice noise, get the header....

o-ron, PSMINI is having their next pulley party on tax day. Perhaps you can contact them to see about possibly watching the installs or riding in one of the nine freshly pullied cars.

One of the guys in the DCMM club just got a deal on performance pieces of the JCW. I believe he got the intake, head, exhaust, injectors, and pulley for ~ $3k.
