If not, what intakes don't do any of that pssshh squeek junk. I was looking at the BFP Carbon Fiber intake, it looks great and produces good numbers, anyone have experience with it.
I have the Helix CAI and you still get the whistle, but really only becomes evident under hard acceleration. Cruising sounds just like normal.

Want to get rid of the sounds?

Go back to stock. Sad but true.... See all the dead ends on this?

Those dead end passages dampen the frequencies that are the squeek or wistle. If you want those noises to go away, you have to make sure you're wering headphones, or that most of the air goes through this tube.

Fact o life!

what would happen if we cut out all of the dead end passages and taped over the holes. would there still be a squeak?

I too have a CAI with the annoying whistle. Love the performance but hate the noise.
Yep! The vacuum lines are the same on the MCS autos as the manuals.

So does replacing the TB or maybe tuning the BPV help at all! The sound really bugs me but I will NEVER put that ugly OEM restrictor on! Off to the drawing board....or the headphone shop

I have the OEM restrictor on in addtion to my ALTA (mainly cause I couldn't stand the dust being inducted) and still have a whistle on a clean filter. The majority of the airflow comes throught the cowl anyways. The sound is air passing over the TB, if you are willing to sacrifice some perromance, reinstall the cowl heatshield behind the ALTA. Removing the shield opened a 1" diameter hole into a 6"x6" open square that is a lot of restriction removed, restriction that was used to tune the engine tone.

i think perhaps the reason of the squeak at part throttle is air moving from a high pressure area (pre-Throttle Body) to a low pressure area (post TB, inside the SC inlet plenum). The VGS is very noticeable at light throttle applications, as this is where the stock vacuum routing doesn't close the BPV, and where the VGS closes the BPV, thus creating a slightly higher pressure within the inlet plenum, as any boost within the intake manifold is dumped into the inlet plenum (pre-SC, post-TB)

Please take all this with a pinch (alright, a bag ) of salt, cos i'm merely guessing.

I've since insulated the airbox, killed the whistle, improve performance, reduces heat soak. Everything sounds stock then as soon as I pounce on it it screams!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To the point I thought it was siren until I realized it was me shifting. Best of both worlds for me.

If your serious about it here is a link that is worth your read.

So here are some of the things I tried.

1. Put back on the stock hose. (Alta Hose does not seem to fit securely)
2. Put back on the back wall piece.
3. Insulated the air box.

Result was no whistle, no Alta sc whine and the car seem to be starving for air.

I then took the back wall piece off and insulated the back wall.

Result was a very faint whistle and the Alta SC whine is back.

I am pretty happy with the way the car is now and may look at putting the Alta hose back on some day or just selling it.

Pictures

Just posted some screen shots. I may paint and put the Alta hose back on. End result is no whistle and the sc whine that I love.

That worked for me as well.
