Drivetrain CAI - Is there such a things as "Too Cold"
CAI - Is there such a things as "Too Cold"
I want to start getting addicted to the "engine-mod" drug that I hear so much about, and I figured I start off with an Alta CAI since I've heard so many amazing things about it.
However, before I invest the money, I have a question about the air going into the engine. Is there such a thing as air that is "too cold"?
The reason I ask is because I live in Milwaukee, WI and during the winter we sometimes hit the negative numbers in outside temperature. Would driving my car in that kind of weather with the CAI be harmful at all or would the compression in the SC heat it up enough?

apart from the fact that the air can never be too cold, is that the main thing with the intake is that it can draw in more air with a less restrictive foam filter, as well as removing the rear cowl wall to allow more air to flow from beneath the windshield. This means a higher volume of air, and because the air is colder, and thus more dense, it's helping the supercharger even more by first providing it with a lot more air to compress, and giving it denser air to start with, because that's all a supercharger does is compress the air to give a denser intake charge.
You'll love the alta, especially the noise that it makes. I have a before and after recording of the difference in sound if you want me to email it to you. It's a lot louder
