Is there something different about the exhaust in the video? It just sounds different than previous vids of it.

Heck! I downloaded flip4mac and the QuickTime window opens, but I get a message that says "Can not open a file that QuickTime does not understand".
What am I doing wrong?

I am running the Toyo RA1 in a 235/40-17 (doesn't bolt right in...) and I love them!

The exhaust in the second video from Laguna Seca is the WMS in open mode. The first vid at Second Creek uses the Magnaflow. I also swapped out the WMS FMIC for the new WMS/Gintani water/air manifold in the LS video. That's the difference in whine.

350Z - that's pretty cool, as I like the sound of that motor quite a bit (in the FX45, 350Z and the G35) .

Thanks!
Randy

Randy,

Are you offering the Gintani IC yet? What are your thoughts on it? Cost around the $2200 mentioned in another thread on here way back?

Fun video Randy. You can really feel the 10lb flywheel just watching it.

Yeah, real race cars are pretty loud by street standards. This one is actually quiet by race car standards though. It runs 92 decibels wide open, whereas the old 911 racers we used to build were running 106-108 dB!!

Ben,

Not yet on the Gintani - we are expecting within the next two months, and the price is still being worked out. We've made some good changes, and the unit is unbelievable on the track - no decrease in performance over a run.

Greg,

I like the 235 over the 205 on the 7.5" - I've run both on the track quite a bit. At Second Creek, which I can run very consistently, the wider tire was worth almost a half second per lap. This is the third set of 235s I've had.

We plan on running video of each of the Phil Wicks North American MINI Challange series and hosting the videos on our site, so keep watching for updates! In the meantime, enjoy...

Randy

WMP 9.0 works fine for me.
Try right clicking or Control Clicking on the link and choosing Download Linked File.

Windows Media Player works fine for me. You can still find it at macdownloads.com or versiontracker.com.

Flip4Mac is nice but I've found it fails on occasions.

Sorry Randy, I forget that some here get emails of post here. I deleted my comments about the 235s as I felt it was off topic on this thread.
Obviously you have the power to go wider and see this difference. I think that on a not so modified Mini that the 205 might be a better choice. I guess I found the 235 harder to tune on the narrow 7.5" rims. They are quite a bit heavier also which was also a concern for a lower hp Mini.
Anyway, good stuff on the vids. Look forward to more.

Greg - off topic - that's one of the models. The following year, because of rule changes, was perhaps the most beautiful Ferraris...got that one too.

This was 'the' Niki Lauda 1975 championship car. He was a bit smaller then I.
The diecast of these are quite sought after.

Mikey
Why would you want that exhaust.
Not he has to back out of the gas to "trick" the sound meter
TO LOUD FOR THE TRACK = to loud for the street

Are we going to be the next HARLY group and **** off EVERYONE ?

Hay ... I like a healthy exhaust and OK your not ment to change any thing on an exhaust (CAL) (yes I have but not to the extent to mak the general public HATE us.
"MINIs oh yeah those LOUD little cars."

I am also a motorcyclist and NOISE is the biggest issue.
We sound test to be able to ride OFF ROAD.

JUST BE CAREFUL GOING THIS DIRECTION

That's why we haven't released it yet - it won't be too loud in production form with the valve closed. Remember, I lifted at Laguna Seca by the sound meter, which has a restrictive 91 dB limit. I was right at that limit, and rather than risk it, I gave up a couple of seconds per lap - I didn;t need them to win . The valve open position will be loud, and for track days or autocross events. I've said that all along.

This exhaust has a valve though, which allows for muffled or unmuffled. The street side will not cause issues with the community or the law.

I'll call everyone as soon as possible!! I work on it everyday, but never get through the whole list.

Thanks for your patience! You can always get through to our business, just not me - Bridget and Brian work very hard as well.

Hope that helps!
Randy

Im not sure if you have been following the process of our exhaust, but the version on The Mule at Leguna was the 3rd prototype(we are about to get number 6). The reason Randy ended up having to lift to trick the sound meter was both because we couldnt get the valve closed all the way(a problem that was worked out a while ago), and the 91 dB limit (the magnaflows are at about 90dB at full throttle for comparison). I was told later on that the limit was set so low because it was on a weekday.

I assure you the final product will be very streetable. Thats why we are spending thousands of dollars on testing.

Cool. It looks like WMS is also updating their site right now. Every time I go back to the products page, the pictures change.
