Drivetrain Newly developed exhaust for MINI Cooper S designed with help
I'd say that it may be lighter but I'll bet the Magnaflow has less restriction.
Just remember, modern fighters have 2 engines instead of one!

p.s. I'm working on ways to get rid of that BWOOOOOOORL sound. My prototype helps a little but I won't post until I can measure it with an instrument beside my ear.

Actually...future jet fighters will have one engine. The new joint aircrafts that Lockhead Martin will be making has one engine. This plane can go supersonic, take off in less than 500ft., and can land vertically. Oh yeah, it is also one of the best handling planes. Sunds pretty good for one engine.
Techtonics has an awesome reputation in the VW world (power and substance over style) and they have successfully debunked many tuning myths. That said, this system looks nice, but only comparison dynos on the same car will show whether it offers any improvement relative to stock and/or Magnaflow.
I installed the NRP exhaust this past weekend. Here is my experiece.
-The quality is top notch. It came in two pieces. The fit between the pipes was very precise. The tubes were heavy duty. The tip was very high quality. The mufflers are simple flow through designs. All Stainless.
-Installation was pretty easy. The hardest part was removing the stock brackets.
-Sound: It actually seemed quieter. There was a nice tone to it. The drone was gone. I was actually hearing the exhaust.
-Power gain: A friend and I did some runs with stock then with the new exhaust. We did 40-60, 50-70, 0-60.
40-60: We gained around 8%
50-70: Gained around 6%
0-60: Gained around 5%
Overall: I am very happy with the purchase. I got a quiet system, with a new refined growl. A respectable gain in real world horsepower.
I want to post my numbers and some shots of the install, but I am unsure how to attach files on this site. Can anyone help?
I talked to Colin (TT), and he was impressed with the gain.
Colin said that he is talking/working with a Northern California MINI company. They are doing testing on 4 performance exhaust systems. NRP, Borla, Supersprint and Magnaflo. So far the NRP is making 4-5 HP more that Borla in the midrange. He is going to keep me posted on the results of their testing. Magnaflo is not fairing well he said.
Peace.

I guess everyone who has purchased and installed one of these and feels the difference; and all of the independent dyno testing is wrong?
Myself included?

Not!

Randy,
I apologize if you have already answered this question.
Is there any importance on the order of the mods in relation to the ECU?
Should I have all my other mods completed prior to ECU programming?
Thanks in advance for your time ....

Yes Randy has answered this already. You should get your mods done first so that the ECU can be programmed to get the most out of the mods you have. In other words, you should be able to get an ECU specifically designed for your vehicle which should be much more effective than a generic ECU.

Well ...lets add to the exhaust wars.
I rec'd my QS exhaust today...
It looks terrific in the trunk(boot ) to those who go that way
I can't honesty sayIi see any substancial HP gains at this particular junction.
I will be having it installed tomorrow ...and advise at that point...
Peace,
D
