Alta exhaust...anyone?

Just wondering how many around here use this system? And do you like it – recommend it – or have any problems? By the looks and weight of this system, it's the one I’m thinking of getting. And sorry if this is a duplicate thread...but I’ve done searches without much help.

well a friend of mine had one on his 04, it sounded very nice, power gains, dunno, it is single sided so i am not big on that, but as far as the ALTA products are concerned i always liked them and their customer service. people here are obsessed with Milltek, which is an extremely strong product, so that is the reason that you did not get many answers. Alta is cheaper too, i say, if you like it go for it

www.myminparts.com has a nice system you might want to consider.

I loved the Alta on my 04, it sounded like a Jet engine during acceleration. However, on my 05, it had an extremely annoying drone while at cruising highway speeds. Not sure what happened. I have to assume that the 05 must just be a bit less compatible with the Alta for my taste. I dunno? it looked great and was one of the lightest exhausts for the Mini on the Market. So, I say if you have am 04 or earlier, go for it, if you have an 05+, you need to realize it might be very droney on the interstate.

I also went Milltek, but threw a lot of questions @ Alta before I pulled the trigger. The biggest thing for me, was that I wanted matching headers & cat-back, and Alta's headers are still not ready.

I threw the 1 sided question at them as well, and they responded that the point of the 1 sided sytem, was to counter the weight of the driver on the track, and balance the weight more evenly overall.

If their headers had been ready mid-december, I may have gone with the Alta vice the Milltek.

I'm on to the Invida now myself...any problems fitting on your '05? and where did you buy, if you don't mind my asking?

I got rear ended last week (see thread in Mini Talk) by a 93 celica. It's got a low pointy nose. It hit my rear bumper, and combined with the brakes & collision, the nose then went down, bending the Milltek about 2" and putting an icky ding in one of the tips... Which had been installed barely 3 weeks.

USAA is going to completely replace it though, so I suppose that's good news.
