Question about head gasket.

What would happen if a second head gasket is added to the MCS?

I have seen it before done to supras and high boost cars... it lower the compression a little... so one can boost more.

So I wonder if people like me with a 19% pulley should add a second one?!?!?!?

Thanks in advance... I know I ask a lot of questions...

I don't think it's necessary... People running 19% pulleys don't put it.

And lowering the compression will make you lose a bit of HP.

The MCS engine can take high boost (20 psi). The twin-charger kits prove this!

it's not nessisary...I am runing 25 lbs right now....and others have run 30+ lbs of boost...however...there is a FACTORY gasket that is thinker...if you wanted to put that on there in sted of using two. Again, it's not nessisary..and it's kinda a waste of time to open up the motor only to change somethign that's not broken...

25psi !!! That's awesome!

How is the power delivery? Does it kicks in when the turbo spools up, or it's smooth as butter??

If you run a lot of boost or have a ported big valve head you need a second gasket or the thicker gasket (0,95mm).
We hab a lot of trouble on an highly modified cooper s who was pinging in 6. gear and 6000rpm on the german autobahn and the knocksensor reduced timing by 12° and added fuel.
With a second gasket we had no pinging, the car runs 6800 rpm in 6th gear with the old long ratio gearbox.

head gasket

quick question to the informed out there:

my mcs is in the shop (worn camshaft and rocker shaft). i have 55,000 miles on the car. is this a good time to replace the head gasket? is the thicker .095 mm recommended? mods are: plugs, 15% pulley, CAI, and cooler thermostat. just the usual...

Thanks for the response!

My car runs about 18 PSI at max rpm... sometimes more... 18.2 with:
19%, light weight 0% crank, full ignition, header no cat, magnaflow, 180º, intake, modified intercooler diverter, 380cc injectors, MTH regular file.
I’m on adding 62mm throttle… and I think that should be enough for the motor…

And well my car can’t make it to 6000 in 6th gear... he he how fast is that anyway? Like 140mph 145mph ? I have never tried if it would pull in 6th gear at top speed.

So back to the head gasket I should be ok

Wow MadMick! 6800 rpms in 6th gear is crazy! That has to be close to 160! I wish I lived in Germany.

.....and I love to be in the USA on holiday, next time in march in Orlanda/Miami/Naples

If any modified car is already in a shop with the head down I highly recommend to use the thicker headgasket: 11127508544.
We have the most experience on mini tuning with long time WOT on the autobahn.
It is real horror for the engine to run dozens of miles WOT in 6th gear so we have to tune it the safe way to keep enginelife as long as possible.

it spools right away...I make 15-18 PSI around 2000-2500....so it's very linear as far as boost...it still give a little kick in the pants right around 3500-4000 as it really spools hard and the SC starts to really get going...the two together are just amazing....there's virtually no lag and the tq is unreal
