My friends at Unorthodox Racing on Long Island did a dyno test on my car. They designed new crank pulleys for the car which is going in this week. I already installed on my car a Supersprint "Race" exhaust, from Promini which is also the supersprint importer. I also added the promini intake. The dyno test reported 161.5 at the wheels. The car was hot when tested for a true test. The sound from the intake and exhaust is amazing. Driveability is much more fun. I will update on the results from the pulley installation in about a week or so when we redyno the car.

I wonder by "Race" what you are using for a cat.? Nothing, Stock but SS headers bolted to them or have they finally started to sell the promised hight flow metalic cat.? If the metalic cat. how much was it?

That's about 14.5 hp from a stock S. That's great!

When you said crank pulleys, did you mean a supercharger reduction pulley?

For your own comparison, our numbers for a couple of combos:

Borla/Madness - 10hp
Quicksilver/Madness - 15hp
Magnaflow/Madness - 18hp

Also wheel numbers with a warm car.

Isn't dyno running fun?

By race they told me it is louder than the street version. The headers are stock and the the cat is stock. Promini has a high flow cat available through supersprint.

They didn't touch the supercharger pulley. The is the crankshaft pulley. They just installed it this afternoon and right away I notice an improvement in low end torque. 2nd gear @2k rpm's when you step on it, it feels like it does when at 4k rpms before the pulleys. we will be back at the dyno next week to see the gains.

there is concern when you use a larger crank pulley to make supercharger gains in that the belt and anything powered by it will be moving faster-like the alternator and power steering pump, and so will the water pump since it is driven by the blower.

The crank pulley is also a torsional vibrational damper, so one would hope that function is retained.

any info on this?

I have that header, using the stock cat, and it is a very nice product. are you using the entire supersprint exhaust? you may be one of the first to have it on their car!

As far as the dyno runs, the readings for mods gain credibility when compared to stock runs on the same car, same day.

I installed a unorthadox crankshaft pully about 2 years ago on my friends eclipse. It was the same size but the wieght was much lighter than stock. I would say about 10 pounds. I felt a difference and it also gained a couple of tenths on the track

Randy,

Somewhere around I could have sworn I saw a post about the Rogue/Madness intake making 10 hp all by itself. Wasn't that you?

The Madness does make 7-9 hp - I'd say the dyno error is +/- 2hp. That basically means that the Borla isn't making more than a couple of horsepower in this combo, but remember that performance modifications aren't cumulative. The Borla by itself make 6 or so hp, and the Madness makes 7 or so, but when you put them together, you don't get 13, you get 10.

I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you need more clarification.

Randy
