New Supercharger Install

I'm having a new supercharger installed, due to the old one breaking.

Is there anything in particular I need to tell the guy for the install? I know the O-rings for the water pump should be replaced, but what else? Thanks!

How many miles did you put in your supercharger?

There's one between the intake and the head, and there's one between the Intake and one of the IC horns. If your really into it, you can get a new SC intake gasket, but that's about $15. My car is relatively old, (02, 60k+ miles) and it seemed that the SC intake gasket was a bit brittle. Bently says you should replace the TB gasket as well, but it's just a very expensive rubber band, and looks like it will take multiple uses without issue. Also, you'll be popping a bunch of the stock hose clamps, and if you're not careful, they;ll get trashed (Intake and BP valve use them). Regular clamps work for replacements, or you can get some from Mini, but they're a pain to install unless you modifiy some pliers....

Overall, if you tinker, I'd also add the Bently manual to the list of items... It's a great help for the tinkerer.

The supercharger can be removed while leaving the water pump attached to the block. If you chose to take the water pump and supercharger off together the internal and external o-rings should be replaced 11-51-7-509-186. The intake manifold gasket is 11-61-1-173-671. The IM and intercooler output duct can be removed together and while you have this off it will be a good time to remove the BPV and adjust the butterfly. The green gasket for the supercharger intake duct should be replaced 11-61-0-020-836; that gasket is an eight-dollar part, don’t skimp here. The metal gasket between the supercharger output duct and the supercharger should be replaced 17-51-1-520-044. The red collets on the SID are pressed inward to release the plastic tubes. You can make do with only one band clamp for the hose section between the bypass valve and the supercharger intake duct. Remove the OEM single use clamp closest to the bypass valve when pulling the SID off. Take care when removing and reinstalling the throttle body because that red gasket can be damaged/torn by the locating dowel on the SID. The supercharger can be removed with the front section in service mode but it is easier it you take the time to remove the bumper, swing the AC coils downward and to the right, and pull the radiator support panel off. The Bentley manual will be a great benefit and so will this how-to from Randy Webb. http://store.webbmotorsports.com/for...topic.php?t=16
