How Many Pullies Will a Pulley Puller Pull Before Breaking??
I got a call from a very gifted mechanic, who has worked on mostly English cars over the last 30+ yrs, advising me his Pulley Puller broke as he was in the process of installing my long awaited 15% Alta reduction pulley. He claimed to have used the tool on 4-5 previous MINI's. Just curious about others experience with "pullers". How about you Randy WEBB?
I've heard lots of stories about the crappy factory tensioner tool breaking, even on the first use. But never anything about the pulley puller breaking. I've seen several designs and most of them look like they are built like a tank.
Now say that 10 times really fast.

Not sure on your actual question though. Chad of Detroit tuned had his break a while back, I think, I remember reading about a pulley install he did that had a problem in it, and think that may of been the case. Maybe he will chime in here.

Most pullers should last for many installs. A lot of them are also casted out of a potmetal and any wrong stress on a certain angle can snap it.

Then they're crap.

Matt
we made the original P&D puller that randy shows in his how to. square, from 3/4" cold-rolled steel plate with 3/8" high strength bolts. sold quite as few. then by popular demand, started making a cheaper aluminum version, round, also 3/4" and with high strength bolts. I haven't heard of any of them breaking
