Drivetrain whistling noise from the engine
whistling noise from the engine
hey guys,
I installed my Promini CAI about three days ago and i am noticing this really high pitched whistle noise when i barely step on the gas... it goes away when i push the pedal hard.. is there an air leak going on? I made sure everything was tightend down so i don't know why there would be that noise.. it only happens when the gas is press lightly.. fine cruising and fine on harder acceleration

Hopefully someone who knows more than I do will confirm this, but what I think you are hearing is the butterfly valve in the throttle body create a whistle as it is open just a little bit. More pedal opens it more fully and the whistle goes away. Very light pedal and it is not open at all. I could hear this before my CAI, but it is certainly easier to hear now.
The whistling noise is most likely the CAI.
Just like whistling with your mouth, the shape of your lips, combined with the specific throughput of air, results in noise.
Many CAI's whistle, as air is SUCKED in, and there isn't really anything you can do about it, without inhibiting the performance of the cai... Because you would need to inhibit and/or alter the air travelling through the 'lip' of the CAI en route to the throttle body.

I believe that this is correct

The whistle is the intake, you have opened up the intake path so now you will hear more S/C noise and more "sucking" noise. You should hear the whistle coming off my AGS at part throttle
