Pulley belt install

I'm about to replace my supercharger pulley belt for the third time in 47k miles. The dealer has always done it, but now the car is out of warranty so I'll be doing it myself.

So, any tips on just replacing the belt? I have read the posts about pulley installs, but didn't see anything that's a simple how-to-replace-the-belt.

Don't have a shop manual, and was hoping to stay on the cheap.

Also, what was the final word on which belt to use? The dealer always uses the stock belt, with my 15% pulley. I'm inclined to stay with it since I seem to be getting more mileage out of it that others. But open to suggestions.

Thanks in advance. JR

PS: If I missed this in my search, I apologize.

I got a napa belt when I got the 15% at around 45k. I replaced the belt for the safety issue. The old belt looked fine, had one noticable crack in it.

Anyway, Doing the belt is a PITA...for me it was anyway. It wasn't so so bad, just be careful, take your time, make sure you've got the belt on/around all pulleys properly though. There's a diagram for that somewhere.

The belt i used was belt number 060539

It's not so bad to do. Jack up the passenger side, and remove the wheel. Then, take off the plastic wheel well. all you need to get the belt off is a long openended wrench to push back the tensioner, holding it in place with a wire coathanger. then you can remove the belt. takes maybe 30-40min the first time, but then it's easier. Just make sure youi have the right size belt, and it helps to have someone to slide the coathanger in the hole when you are pushing the tensioner.

good luck!
