Pilo Racing Header Version 2 - Coming Soon

As many of you were aware, I have been working on a second version of the Megan Racing Header that we have been selling. This new Header labeled the Pilo Racing Modular Header has been designed by myself to be what i consider the best header on the market.

We have finished the Prototype that right now includes 1.5" Primaries, and 2.5" outlet, as well as Enlarged Ports. It will come with a Race Pipe Resonator and O2 Sensor Fittings. We are currently working on a Cat Replacement for the Race pipe for those that want to stay with out O2 Sensor Errors. This should all be ready for the Summer, and the price will be as usual Better then any thing on the market!

Looks GREAT!

I would love to hear what the race pipe version sounds like with a one ball 05' exhuast! Rip-snorting-popping-raspy goodness!

Hey Dan,

So as pictured with the resonator it would bolt up to the stock exhuast no problem? Then you guys are working on a race cat to swap in and out for track days or emissions testing? If so its definitely very sweet!

Do you guys make a matching exhuast? I know alot of MINI owners would love a nice stainless exhuast with one muffler only to save on weight. Also if it is reasonably priced for the REALworld! Especially if the quality looks as good as that.

Any guesstimate on how much the cat could cost?

Cool bends.. a first time I would say.

We've got a new standard now.

One Q: That flex point looks weird and kinda short Why?

Your first statement is accurate. It will bolt to the stock exhaust no problem. We do have a matching exhaust, but it is a dual muffler setup. Our system though is lighter then the stock system, so it would save weight, just not as much.

I am working on the Cat, I just welded up the prototype last night. It will be using a Magnaflow EPA and CARB (not CA Carb2) Certified Ceramic CAT. I am going to test fit this weekend.

Oh, Just a correction in the above dimensions, the Resonator Size is 2-3/8 The CAT will be 2-1/2 for the highest flow possible.

This is our exhaust system. I have just sent my design Revision back to Megan Racing so that this system will fit the 04+ Models as well.

THe Flex Joint is smaller because something had to shrink. The reason for that is we have longer Primaries, as well as a larger and Higher Flowing CAT.

The Flex Joint had to be reduced a little, though it is still Fully Functional.

Great to hear about the header. Once prices are released i will be very interested if reasonable.

Wish there would have been more on the exhaust front..... I don't understand why everybody pushes for the two ball design so much? Isn't it more restrictive? Wouldn't it be cheaper and flow better to have a normal one ball set up? Of course on top of all that it would be MUCH lighter, saving 20lbs by most people estimates which is significant enough.

Looks like i may have to stick to one balling the stock exhuast.....

The picture shows the Race Pipe Resonator. I have not posted a picture of the Magnaflow CAT Yet. I am still Prototyping it for fit.

The Price will be much more reasonable then anything on the market yet.

I am looking into a Single Muffler Exhaust...

Ok, Here are some more items cleared up...

Welding is TIG.

We are most Likely Switching to a 1 Muffler Design 2.5" all the way back. This is for several Reasons. First is cost. We will be able to offer this exhaust at a lower cost, Second is weight for both the car, and for shipping.

This with the header will be a great setup, and the cost will be UNBEATABLE!

Did you TIG weld that as well?

Let's just say that I can not claim to have any expertise in the field of welding. I have the ability to prototype the parts and use them on my own car, but definatly not welding like what is produced like on the Exhaust system or the Header...

The final version of the Replacement CAT will be professionally assembled.

Looks good to me

Any word on that throttle body you talked about a while ago? It would be nice to get both to really help the car breath

Things were put on hold with that, but should be picked up again when I finish these other projects. It's unfortionatly all a matter of how much time I have available.

OK Dan
I Changed my Quicksilver for the Miltex cat back. Now the car is too quite. This means I need a header now. What's your status? How long till this beast is ready for a group buy?
Thanks
Wes

We have said ok to the prototype to go into MFG. I am working on finishing the CAT and testing it for life span, (not a real worry, and Car Sound aka Magnaflow has a goor reputation) Should be in about 1-2 months for availability.

Thanks

Great - I can wait if the price is right. I expect it to be more than the e-bay brand but without the cutting and welding thank goodness. Do you have a ballpark yet with cat? Will you have a test pipe option for track days? Is it worth having a ceramic coated option as sensative as our cars are to underhood heat.

Thanks again
Wes
