I spoke to Brian about his 19% SC Pulley and +4% crank pulley set-up.
He didn't mention any dyno numbers however, he did say the set up was nice for more bottom end but, at higher RPMs he was just pushing hot air.
Personally, I don't like "dancing in a mine field" so I went with the +2% crank pulley.

Install How-To for Alta 2%

Hi all,

I picked up a 2% Alta from Webb Motorsports and I'm a little nervous about doing it myself. Is there a how-to or caveat list anywhere? For those of you who have done this are there any gotchas? I have some time this weekend and I'd like to take a shot at it.

I see Randy's writeup but does anyone have the torque specs for the bolt?

I've done the catback, spring change, Konis, and so on and I'm reasonably skilled with tools but I don't have a belt tensioner tool nor a BMW pulley removal tool.

I do plan on changing the belt.

Thanks as always,

Randy did mine and from what I saw, I wouldn't suggest attempting without proper tools. You will need a tensioner tool and Randy used the BMW tool kit for the crank removal and re-install.

I had an Alta crank pulley installed by a shop that has a lot of experience
with MINI Cooper mods. I won't say which shop. The Alta instructions
says to use MINI Factory torque specs. Something went wrong and on my way home, the bolt came loose, the pulley "walked" out on the shaft about one half inch, the belt broke and I was stranded on the side of the Interstate. It was on Saturday. I was very angry! The pulley was not
damaged. I had the car towed to MINI Dealer (40 miles) and had my wife
come to pick me up (100 miles). The MINI Dealer installed the pulley
properly (by reading the Alta instructions in the box in the car) and put on a new belt. That was about 4000 miles ago. I have had no further problems.
I am very pleased with the pulley. By the way, the mod shop was very
professional in their dealings with me and reinbursed the repair cost.

Take care to use the proper install procedures.

It depends on what supercharger pulley you have. Also as to how much boost you want to create.

0% is stock diameter, 2% is 2% larger then stock diameter.
