questions

Hello everyone! I am about to order an 06 mcS but, I have two questions. 1st-I am going to order the lsd and wondered if I should get the traction control ie..sport pakage or does the LSD get rid of the need/use of t/c. Also, does the t/c turn off all the way when it's disabled? The car I have now, has t/c and even when I turn it off it still engages under 20mph. I guess what I'm asking is, is it worth getting t/c if i'll have the lsd? My other question is about the HID's. The car I have now has HID's and they come on when I turn on my headlights. I may have read this wrong on a couple of posts but I thought I read that the mini's HID's only come on:smile: when you turn them on or otherwise they use differrent headlights. Could someone clear this up for me? Thanks in advance for any reply's

I dont get your question but about the Xenon lights, when ever you turn one the switch that you have to turn the HIDS turn on. When you pull it back the high beams or "other lights" turn on. I hope that answers your question.

The LSD is more useful than DSC for the performance minded driver and is mechanical (being available at all times) not electronic.

The DSC is optional and can be disabled by toggle switch. You can turn it on and off by demand completely. You don't really need it if you are a capable driver. If you are an average driver the DSC can be a good safety feature.

For the lights, if you order the Xenon lights you can turn them on or off at will. They are separate from the normal driving lights and high beam lights.

Go for a test drive in a MINI with Xenons and check out how they work.

Just to make sure you know, the MCS comes standard with Traction Control (which controls excessive wheel-spin). DSC/DCS (Dynamic Stability Control) is a separate option, also included in the sports pack. It uses a computer to not only control wheel-spin, but can apply brakes to individual corners of the car, to help the driver gain control, if such an event were necessary. Can also be a nuisance as well.

But if you're talking just about plain ol' Traction Control, the anti peel out control, then that's standard on the MCS (not the base Cooper).

If it were me, I'd skip the DSC. I turn it off every time I get into the car, any way. I have ans aftermarket lsd that's better than the factory and my DSC will engage under heavy throttle.

If I were ordering another MCS today it would have LSD and DSC.

The LSD for traction out of turns and the DSC for wet days and the snow/ICE here in Winter. Believe me, last Winter I drove approx. 30 miles on high crowned back country roads covered with glare/black ice. I had plenty of time to play with the DSC on and off. If you got out of your car your were likely to fall down or slide off the road.

To me it is worth every penny.
