Has anyone made their own MTH tuner cable?

If so, could you tell me what I need to make one? I was just reading that the cable, 'if you don't have one' is $110. If I could save the price of this cable, it would be easier to maybe put it on my Christmas list... I have the tools, but need details about wire position, plug type, etc. -Jeffy.

There is a schematic on sensolution's website. The problem is, the time, parts, and labor that go into making it, costs more than it does to just buy it... Also, many laptops dont have COM ports any more, and need a USB cable. USB->COM converters can cause timing issues with Cartune that can lead to bad things).

I don't want to try a com-usb connection

So... Tradius, would you be willing to post or send a photo of the right cable for the job? I really need to save $110 if it is possible. I'm just a lowly airplane mechanic, not a rich man. I would appreciate your time. -Jeffy.

And for reference, here is the approximate cost of a home-brew cable (that may or may not work):

OBD-II -> DB9 6 ft: $20
DB9 M -> F 6 ft: $3
Copper Clad board : $3
Appropriate diodes, resistors, transistors: $10
Male DB9 connector: $5
Female DB9 connector: $5
Housing: $3
Dremmel tool: $50
Soldering Iron: $10
PCB Etchant: $15

Total: 124 + shipping for all the parts.
