Drivetrain power on a budget
power on a budget
ok i got some ideas and lets see if you guys can help me out with a good combo,im thinking.rember cost is a big fact and i want to do dyno runs after each part i put on,dont worry friends got dyno
.
fully custom exhaust made by me
have to get a pully and i cant make that, darn.
custom intake made by me
do you guys have anymore ideas of parts i can get my hands on for not much $$$
when i do that i will take picks of everything, post up dyno sheats and try and get some video.
any experts with elevation and how much it will hurt my numbers because the dyno is at about 3000 feet.

]. There are other exhaust-related threads with pics and specs.Second, if you're interested in power on-the-cheap, you should defiantely get an M7 scoop [or other ones when they come available]. It won't give you power on the dyno, but you will hardly lose ANY power while on the road. I just put mine on and drove around pretty hard
, returned, and tested the IC temp by the hand test. It is MUCH cooler after runs. Look here on NAM to find TonyB's testing with DATA. It's a great deal, showing better gains than the GRS IC TonyB also had...at fractions of the cost The only other advice I have is replace the SC pulley AND the crank pulley [the latter is more controversial, but Randy Webb @ webbmotorsports.com did some good testing for your perusal]. These two items will give you the best bang-for-the-buck on the dyno. Hands down.
I hope this helps. Again, good luck!
no offence but im not making my exhaust from pepboys parts, and i still dont understand how stright thru would be bad for flow
,hey if i get real crazy i will do a test.
on another note anyone got dyno sheets of befoure and after of just exhaust?? and what company got the best hp gains??

Next, straight through has more resistance for a simple reason. If you do a double-pipe "around the battery box" design, you have twice (!!!) the area of the straight through design. He is doing 3" primaries (after the header) and then splitting it into two 3" secondaries. [Even if you went to 2.5" secondaries, you would have ~39 sq. inches of area at the tips, versus ~27.5 sq. inches with a simple 3" outlet.] You end up with almost HALF the resistance to flow the way he is doing it [3" -> 2x3"], since there is the same amount of exhaust gases but they're allowed to fill up more space. The difference is pretty clear. Just look at the designs he ran through PROFESSIONAL flow calculating software.
It is one of the best resources regarding exhausts, period.
i think i did missunderstand you, well i am looking to make a custom exhaust i just wanted to know what real companys hp was? so when i make mine and dyno it i can see if its better or worse.
im still looking for ideas for hp on a budget

A few have done their own intake (search for 'HAI'). Biggest bang for the buck as far as parts costs go is the pulley, hands down. While the pulley does not cost too much compared to the gains you get, the labor needed for the installation tends to have people seeking professional help in having it installed rather than doing it themselves (I have done it and find it rather easy as long as you have a belt tensioner tool and a puller on hand, the only 'special' tools needed). Others have done their own exhaust on the cheap (search for 'one-ball') as well as taken more drastic measures and converted to straight-through exhaust after cutting out the battery box.
1) Air intake - cheapest way would be to buy a filter and do a HAI. There are threads on the subject. Cost: 35-50 bucks
2) Pulley - gotta buy it.
3) Exhaust - 1-ball exhaust. There are threads on the subject.
Cost: You can purchase the Pipe connector for 125.00, install 35.00
Got money left over ? then reflash ecu.
these are the cheapest ponies mony can buy.
