I was wondering if it was practical to put a turbo kit on the MCS. I was told that it can be done but both the supercharger and the turbo would cancel eachother out. I am looking for some insight on this issue

 

Call up Al at ProMINI/BMP Design - he is in the process of fitting a garrett turbo to the S - supercharger comes out, few things get moved around, etc.

 

Do you have the numver by chance?

 

You could put a turbo and supercharge together. Their have been a few race cars with a super/turbo combo but they aren't very streetable.

I'd think replacing the supercharger with a turbocharger would be the more practical way to go given the space constraints of the engine bay.

 

I think the best thing to do is the simplest engine mods first, (intake, ECU, etc) then I would upgrade the supercharger as superchargers are better than turbos in the MINI. There is a reason why BMW didn't install a cheaper turbo system rather than a supercharger that eliminates lag.
