ALta Intake= a grin on my face

I just got finished up installing the alta intake on my 05 HB MCS and OMG I love it!!!!!! The sound is so nice I havent heard the radio since. I was at my Mini dealer yesterday and they loved it and we even went for a ride. The install was a breeze using Randy Webb's How-To. The only problem was that I lost a 8mm socket to the engine bay gods. (gone forever)RIP. The fit and finish are great. And to think I was planning on getting M7 springs but Peter was out of them. I had to buy something right?
Thanks to all that posted about intakes to help me reach my decision to go with the Alta. And to Randy Webb for hitting us with real data and great how-to's.
Thanks NAM

Good luck fighting off the temptation . I thought I was going to stop after my first mod also, but I was weak, and the power/sound/improvements are just so addictive....

Mods are definetly addictive. I am ordering lowering springs as soon as Peter from M7 gets them in.(mid August) I also have a alta catch can on the way. Tinting will be done within the next 2 weeks. I will be putting on a pulley as soon as there is a pulley party near me. I am hooked on Mods.
Mods are like tattoo's Once you have one your are going to get another. Its just a matter of when.

Yep the Alta intake is incredible the car sounds really nice, but the truth is that it can be a little overwhelming for some. The intake is really for enthusiast that love hearing the engine as they drive (specially late at night when the highway is all yours).
This intake modification is for someone who mostly hears NPR radio, rather than all their 4000 songs stored on their iPODS.
Seriously, if you are not sure take a ride with someone who w
has made this modification...most likely you'll love it.
Here is my ride...I just made all my mods as of four days ago.

Question Dinger28? Where did you get your Alta intake? How much did you paid?

I just got mine today, install is tonight. I skipped the silicone hose though. And now the pictures on Webb's site have disappeared (d'oh). Hopefully it will go uneventfully. This is a slippery slope, I'm already looking at pulleys.

I got mine from JSC Speed for 229 w/ silicon hose. The cheapest place I could find. They are out of PA so I got mine in 2 days. Totally stoked and I will be ordering from them agian in the future.

Intake

Alta makes a nice pulley/s also that Will make thew intake sound even better. I believe the pulley to be the best bang for the aftermarket buck.

I also got mine from JSCSpeed and had it in two days here in Boston. I have been in contact with Eric at Helix about a 15% pulley, so either that or the Alta.

Updated: Install took 1.5 hours, start to finish, and many many thanks to Webb Motorsports for the detailed instructions with photos. The Alta instructions, in a word, suck. I found the replacement of the left side T25 torx bolts to be difficult on the bottom (for folks with large hands, it was hard to get around the battery cable), and I found replacing the factory clamp on the intake tube to be a little annoying. Other than those two items, it was a snap. The supercharger whine is so much better. Now for that pulley...

JEez...
I'm still deciding on what to get. between M7 AGS and Alta.
I've seen video clips of AGS equipped PW MCS.
Shoo.. they were REALLY REALLY H o t..
People say that Alta sounds sweet too but I just want to hear it before I do click on my mouse and order.

Do anyone have a sound clip or video clip for Alta Intake in action?? I'm very curious...

Good purchase decision

No matter where you get it, the Alta is one of the best CAI's out there, if you love the enhanced supercharger whine. I do, and wanted to hear even more of that jet-engine sound, so the Alta worked great for me.

Congrats on a great buying decision.

MONDAY! After Dinger28 called me when he was driving so I could hear the intake, I hung up and placed my order for the Alta intake. It will be here Monday afternoon, and installed on Monday evening. I can't wait!

Took me a little to get used to the throttle body whistle, but now I love it! Looks great too. You have to get the reduction pully, only $400 installed and it makes a huge difference. I've managed to stop at that though, because now i'm spending all my MINI money on track time, by far the best way to make your MINI go faster

You better call me over when you install. I want to see the grin on your face when you take it out for the first time.

What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I returned home to find the FeDex Ground lady dropping off a package at my house on a Saturday. It was my Alta intake. Dinger came over mid install and after installing, removing, installing and removing then finally installing for the final time (I forgot to put in a few things ) I took it for a ride and it is scchhhwwwweeeettt! Sure it has more hp, but it sounds so good! I think a headar and exhaust is next. Maybe around the same time I'll pony up for a bigger throttle body. Thanks Tim for coming over for the assistance!

I am a satisfied customer of Alta products as well as EuroStylesEast. Try the Alta CAI and 17% pulley combo. I have it and its just aweeeeeeeeeesome. . The Blue Flame exhaust is the next mod coming soon as early as 2 weeks
