Mini Performance specialized store in LA
Hello guys.
I just got a UPS delivery of all the goodies I want installed in my car. Although I would love to install them myself I am extremely busy to tackle them (nevermind that I am only in LA for the summer and dont have a decent garage...too tiny).
Can you suggest a good shop to get modifications installed (ie. springs, intake, exhaust) in the Los Angeles area?
thank you.

Steve is a great guy and loves MINIs! He owns one, too!
Many people in SoCal go to him for service and he's had pulley parties, etc. Check him out!

Not only is Steve the best and totally obsesed with MINI's, he even has his own parts machined. You should check out his control arms he had made, or his throttle bodies. I wouldn't go to anyone else. Oh and he does everything for a great deal.
Sure, no problem. Looking forward to stop by the shop.
PS: Should I ask for someone specific once there? Is it a big shop?
The number that was posted on a previous post is wrong...(fax machine).

Well, if you can drive down to 626 area code, which is Alhambra/Rosemead area, I can refer you to my friend's shop. He specializes in Mercedes and BMW, so he knows how to install the simple stuff. I installed my own pulley, intake, and rear sway bar using his shop's tools and he was cool about it. His prices are VERY CHEAP and I can't stress that enough. If you're interested, here is his shop info:

He's also open on Saturdays from 10am - 5pm so you can drop by tomorrow if you want.

I know this is redundant, but Steve deserves the praise. In my opinion, there's nowhere else to go in LA. I live on the West Side and think nothing of trekking to West Hills. Steve's is a friendly shop (you'll always meet other Mini owners there - he has lots of "regulars") gives excellent service and prices and stands behind his work. He even has held "install days" for (gratuitous plug) SoCal Mini Maniacs (http://www.scmm.org - if you're new to SoCal) with a barbeque, deals on installs and dozens of Minis getting modded (or just hanging out).
Steve is the man, and Mark can help you too. They're just plain good people.
Cheers,
Steve

I'll let you guys know how it went.
Thanks again and have a grea long weekend all!

Here is the result of my experience with Steve's Auto Clinic.
I love it. great price. super neat clean job...and fast a little bit more than half a day for the installation of milltek exhaust, oil catch can, CA intake, lowering springs and control arms balanced and aligned.
incredible pricing...this is the best shop experience I've ever had.
what do you guys think of the result?

Guys, thanks very much, I am very happy with this car. I have previously owned pretty nice rides but this has to be the most enjoyable one. I really like the fact that it’s not ridiculously expensive to have nice upgrades and really notice a difference in your driving experience. (Not too say that the car is any faster, just more entertaining)
Betet:
1. what types of lowering springs are you running
I installed Alta lowering springs with the control arms to correct any camber issues.
2. What size tires
205 45 17 (I just swapped the tires from the original rims, they work perfectly.
3. Any rubbing issues?
Prior to installing the lowering springs I noticed minor plastic shavings while cleaning the car.
That just occurred the first time; I have never again noticed any rubbing. I am quite meticulous with the car so if something major occurs I would be the first to know.
I usually ride the car with my fiancé and I have washed the car twice since the installation and haven’t seen any shavings.
**I like the Alta springs because it lowers the car about an inch overall, this makes the car looked more centered and not so high up which by the way becomes more noticeable once you install the RGR's without lowering the car.
If you go ahead with installing the springs I would recommend you also get the control arms so the car sits straight and avoid problems with eating out you tires unevenly.
Not only the lowering springs make the car look better, the handling is really nice. I am not too much of an aggressive driver, but I do notice the car stiffer and safer.
After this, I would like to complete these simple upgrades with a nice braking system.

Hey AC_MINI,
is it possible to drop by on Sat (07/30/05)? I'll be at my friend's shop installing M7 springs, Minimania.com header, and invidia exhaust. I'll be there from the morning around 9am until early afternoon. It'll be better if you're there so I can ask him and give you a price right there. Talk to u later...

Met dragonwang "John" today at his friend shop while he was installing a Header and Exhaust system. The owner of the shop are very nice and man the price he gave me for installing the Pulley was out of this world. Can't wait to order a Alta 15% Pulley so dragonwang friend can install them. Thanks dragonwang it was nice to meet you and I hope you will be able to join us at the C3 on August 13th.
Yeap, nice to meet you too AC_MINI. Your car looks nice. Now after I installed the header & exhaust, the car is sooo much louder, but it's a good loud. :D
Sure, I'll roll with you to C3's meeting on August 13th. I'm down to meet other MINIfanatics.
