I'm not sure what mods you may already have, but here's a good list to start with:
  • 15, 16, 17 or 19% reduction supercharger pulley - Try brands such as ALTA, Helix, M7, MINI Mania, and MINI Madness
  • Uprated air intake system - Try brands such as ALTA, Helix, M7, MINI Mania, and MINI Madness
  • Uprated ECU mapping - Try brands such as MTH, UNIChip, and GIAC
  • Uprated exhaust system - Try brands such as Milltek, Magnaflow, Borla, and UUC

Then, to round out the package, try some suspension mods:
  • Uprated rear sway bar (19 or 22mm) - Try brands such as ALTA, H-Sport, R Speed, and MINI Madness
  • Uprated rubber - Upgrade your not-so-sticky runflats to some non-runflat rubber - try some brands such as Kumho, Goodyear, Bridgestone, Michelin, Yokohama, and Falken

Many aftermarket shops offer "packages" that have been tested thoroughly for reliabilty and performance. Do a search here on NAM and be enlightened.

If power is your main goal I would do the following:
1. Supercharger pulley 19% $120
2. 4% Crank pulley $160
3. JCW Fuel injectors $400
4. ECU Tuned for bigger injectors $400-800
5. Cat Back Exhaust $600-900
6. Header of your choice $275-900
7. Top mount intercooler $750-820
8. Big Valved cylinder head with cam $1200-2000+

Alot of manufactures have packages or you can put your own together.

All advice was good and your Dinan choice I really want to hear about when completed.

When I first started this "hobby/obsession" I was told to get wheels and tires. I thought "no way" I want power. Do your self a favor, .... budget for wheels and tires somewhere down the road.

As for Warranty, its a dealer by dealer thing. I know the local dealer here does not cover Dinan items.

http://www.dinanbmw.com/ They have it and some parts aren't priced much more then those offered from other aftermarket companies.

If the MINI dealer is also a Dinan dealer, there is a Dinan warranty.

Since you have "at least $3500" to spend, I'd give Eric Savage a call down at Helix and get one of his Helix TurboKompressor Kits. He has one on his everyday driver (a MCS) and it'll give you about 300 bhp!!!

I've seen it in-person, and it's a sweet looking unit. Check it out, here's an excerpt from the web page:

"Here it is, the ultimate in MINI tuning packages: the TurboKompressor combines the advantages of the supercharger with power output of a Turbocharger. The kit includes all of the parts necessary to turn your car into a Porsche 996 beating monster. Needless to say, this is not for the faint-of-heart."

Helix TurboKompressor Kit

***scroll down the page a bit to see the kit***

If i was going to recomend a twincharge kit i too would have to recomend the helix kit due to recent problems with the SPI kit.

A twincharge kit will be slightly out of your budget though... Its gona run at least $6k after installation.

WOW!! It just keeps pulling,There's a break-in period so the software learns your driving habits plus the guys at Bullet said not to baby it, I can't compare it to another MINI with the same work done. All I know is that I'm very satisfied with Dinan and the Guys at Bullet in OC.

Very Cool. they are right....drive as much WOT as is safe. The car will learn it's a performance car not a grocery getter.

Thanks for the update. Dyno and post when you can

For that price, I'd have twincharged it and had gobs more TORQUE and HP.

I got it for less but, I wasn't looking for more HP and Torque than that, It's my daily driver plus I don't think you could use all that power on autocrossing without transmission mods, and that's what I want to do later on.

FYI I saw a stock Cooper not S with tires and wheels perform within a second or so of highly modified MCSs with skilled driver and she (Amanda you know who you are) dusted my time by about 5 seconds (I am not very skilled but learning) with all my power and mods.

I've seen autocrossing and I think it's a balance of power, suspension, tires, and skill. Equals 100%, the races I have seen with different cars and driving discipline make anyone a potential winner.
