I have had a few questions regarding the MINI Mania header.

I discussed the part with them today and here's what I got:

It is a 2 1/4" final pipe - not 2 1/2"

It DOES cause the check engine light to come on, but they are now researching the O2 sims - wonder where they got that idea

What about 4-1 vs 4-2-1 style headers? And $650 for headers is a bit steep already! Can't imagine what BMP wants (considering the price of the Supersprint exhaust!! ).

This is a follow up on the Supersprint. I spoke at length with Anthony from BMP this morning.

There are some clarifications due. The cutting and welding is in order to install the factory cat - a flange is provided if that is the route the customer wants to take. Without the stock cat, there IS a check engine light, but the O2 sim is being evaluated to solve this problem. They are having the problem with both the metal cat and no cat.

They are working out a way to get the entire system to me for full evaluation on the install and power gains available. Like I said, if it fits and doesn't require cutting and welding to work, I like the design. The dyno numbers will be forthcoming as soon as the dyno facility is secured.

Anthony was very professional and truly believes in his products. They want to bring quality systems to the marketplace, so I'm confident that if I do run into any issues with the system, they can be resolved. The only concern I still have is the price. We'll see during the evaluation period if it is warranted. I truly hope the product works, as I would save myself a fortune in design of an entirely new system.

As always, I'll keep you advised and remain fully and totally objective (I am a distributor of these and everyone else's products, so I just want to find out as much as I can about the system to determine where it would fit best with regard to particular customers' requests).

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Randy

Glad to see your reply after talking with al. Al is a wonderful person to deal with...he believes strongly in his products and their stuff is quality made. I for one will most likely be getting the supersprint headers and cat...still unsure about the exhaust - supersprint might do a lighter weight 1 muffler design for racers, or I might go with the supertrapp behind the supersprint headers and cat. Grrr..if that magnaflow wasn't so darn heavy...hehehe...i for one love the look of the horns.

The bmp header costs 698.16 not sure on the metalic race cat...web site lists CALL for price.

Actually I talked with Anthony - he's a great guy too.

The Magnaflow isn't heavy - it's only 34 lbs compared to the stock 46 lbs.

I know, I know - the Supertrapp is like 15 lbs. But I can't get over the side exit and that noise!

The price is the biggest issue I have right now with Supersprint. The header with the race cat still sets off the check engine light, so that will have to be dealt with - an issue with any header.

Give me a call when you want to ordre the Supersprint - I do carry it. I'll make sure to give you the best price.

We'll see what happens when the system gets here - I'll be sure to do a full write up on the install, fit, sound, weight, and power.

When I'm ready to order - I will make sure to give you a call first. First up on the new S will be wheels and tires...still searching where best to get volks from. Additionally hope to get the H&R coilovers as well soon...will you be carrying these?

Casey,

Yes, barring any problems with the testing and fit, I'll carry the H&R coil overs. They are only height adjustable however, so I am also testing the series 2 Spax and waiting (patiently) for the Eibach double adjustable aluminum bodied coil overs.

Thanks for using MINI Cooper Motorsport (I usually just write MINI-Motorsport 'cause it's quicker and it is the URL for my website)!

More stuff will be added to the online catalog - keep watching.

Randy
